Chalayan @ Avenue 32

Hi there beauties and happy Friday! Have you got an amazing weekend planned? I don't have anything going on just yet, but I am realising that my week off is coming to an end :(

Today I want to talk to you about the website Avenue 32. The site describes itself as ‘your online luxury shopping neighbourhood’ and I can see why. There are pieces from established brands and very talented emerging designers. Each designer has curated their own individual boutique space allowing you to step into their world, giving you an exclusive peek into their creative process through video and images. For those of you who love high fashion, shoes and accessories you really should check out Avenue 32.

There a couple of pieces I want to focus on in this post from the designer Chalayan

Day Look

This Oxblood Cup Sleeve Jumper Dress is a fantastic item that can be worn as simply as shown here or styled up with accessories. I would wear this with vintage worker boots (laces undone) and a bowler hat. A low slouch, textured leather bag would add to the relaxed feel of this look. Hair and make-up should be kept natural to keep the rich colour of this oxblood piece the focus.

Evening/Event Look

This Pink Nothing Maxi Dress is exquisite. The structure, clean lines and panelling create a perfect cocoon for the body. The silhouette that this piece performs is outstanding. I would be almost afraid to ruin this dress by adding too many details as it's simplicity and bold shade are enough to make your presence known. With this piece I would wear winged black glossy eyeliner and a glossy lip. Hair would be worn tall with gold drop earrings. Gold strappy sandals and a mini diamante clutch would complete this look.

Chalayan uses both sculpting and draping to flatter the female form. Some designers I feel can take this route of structural designing a little too far and I believe lose the woman in the masculine tailoring, but Chalayan accentuates with this direction of creative design.

What are you favourite pieces from Chalayan or other pieces at Avenue 32? Let me know in the comments below.
