Birthday Presents & Thank You

Hi all and Happy Friday! It has been just over a couple of weeks since my birthday. On the day I spent some time with my Mum catching up on gossip and having lunch. Then I had a few hours chilling on my own painting my nails, drinking tea and watching YouTube videos. In the evening my boyfriend and I enjoyed a takeaway and we watched a film. He had bought me a cake, but we were so stuffed that we had some the next day. Sometimes the simple things are what please me :) He had already bought me my camera as my Xmas/Birthday present so putting my feet up and no cooking was all I needed from him. 

I did however receive gifts from family and friends so for those of you interested here are the lovely things I got.

A variety of cute, funny, rude and heartwarming cards.

Obviously you can never go wrong with me and beauty.

I love taking notes. It's a bit of an obsession for me as I like to be organised. This snuggly circle scarf with cute pom poms will keep me warm.

This cute mug and coaster will brighten any dreary day. Plus this bed warmer will keep me toasty at night.

I also received 3 bunches of beautiful flowers, 2 boxes of chocolates which I shared with my fella, vouchers and money. I am going to buy a camera case asap as I have a few events in February to attend which I will let you know more about soon.

As with any gift I am so grateful to my fella, friends and family.

My Watch & Ring Collections & How I Store Them

Hiya dolls. I am so pleased that you are here. Today I have another part of my jewellery collection and storage to show you which are my watches and rings.

This Ellesse watch was a gift from my man when we first got together.

These watches are from L-R: Bijoux (Xmas present from a friend), I think Dorothy Perkins, Emporio Armani @ Goldsmiths (birthday present from my fella) and Dorothy Perkins.

This is the insert to the box that holds my watches and sits on top. It stores my gold rings and my cute pink beaded one. I believe these are from Primark, Dorothy Perkins and Accessorize. The pink one I bought at a show and I don't know the brand sorry. This box was a gift.

This box was another gift from a work colleague which stores all of my silver rings. There are rings in here from Primark, Dorothy Perkins, Matalan and Claire's.

I bought a lot of these rings from Love Lemonade/Lemonade at a show so they gave me this ring case to take them away in. I added to the collection with rings from brands such as Primark and Dorothy Perkins I believe.

OOTD: FD. Avenue Racer Back Jersey Maxi Dress In Red

Hi there lovelies. It seems that a lot of you have been out there having fun this weekend due to the gorgeous weather and I hope today that your good times continue today. I have been having a little fun this morning in my garden taking photos of myself for this OOTD post. I was approached by FD. Avenue and asked to choose an item from their fashion website that I would like to review. I chose the FD. Avenue Racer Back Jersey Maxi Dress In Red.

As you can see I got into the cowgirl theme of this look :)

 This gorgeous red dress is a bold yet easy to style piece. I usually have real trouble with wearing maxi dresses as I am between 5ft 2-3. This dress however I am able to wear flats with. The material is 95% viscose and 5% elastane and the length is approx 149cm. I am wearing a size s/m. It is machine washable too.

I like the scoop neck as it comes just low enough shaping nicely around my bust line without showing off my bra. The racer-back is a nice detail for the summer. I wore white underwear under this dress and it did not show through so the material is thick enough not to look or feel cheap, but the dress itself is still lightweight for hot summer days and nights.

This would be perfect for taking you from day to night actually. Flats or wedges would go great with this style and some gold jewellery would make the colour of the dress pop even more. Especially if worn with a tan unlike me :(

This has an elasticated waist which comes up near the bottom of my ribs. I think it's a flattering style that could be worn in many ways for instance with a cardi and flip flops or a kimono and espadrilles.

FOTN: Ardell Demi Wispies Review

Hi once again my cherubs. I hope you are having a fabulous Sunday. I was sent some Ardell Demi Wispies in Black for free to try out some time ago from Kilpatrick PR. I wanted to wait until I was going on a night out before using them as I am no expert at applying false lashes so if I actually got them to work I wanted to be able to show them off.

Photo taken after use. I apologise for this as in my excitement of trying them out I realised it would have probably been better for me to take the photo before use, whoops!

I am a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to applying false lashes as I don't use them often enough too feel confident I suppose. The last time I tried was Xmas 2011 for a work do and lets just say it didn't go well. My eyes were streaming and they just wouldn't stick. It might have been the lash glue or the lashes I'm not sure, but I had to re-apply my whole make-up without lashes in 10 mins.

So now onto the review. I removed the lashes from the pack and placed them along my lash line to see if they were the correct width for my eye. They were fine, but had they been too wide I would have snipped them a bit from the inner corners to make them the correct size while keeping the sexy feline flick at the outer corners. 

I then bent the ends inwards towards each other to help the band curve into more of an eye shape. This set came with lash adhesive so I squeezed some onto the cardboard packaging and used a cotton bud to apply it in a thin layer along the false lash line. 

I waited for about 30 seconds and with my tweezers I maouvered them onto my natural lash line and pressed them against it with my tweezers gently to help them stick. I did get some glue on one of my eyelids, but this was easily removed by just peeling it off.

I applied my Ardell lashes before applying any other make-up so that if it was a disaster the rest of my make-up wouldn't be ruined. This was the best tip the lovely Celebrity Make-Up Artist Louise Page gave to me at the Speed Beauty Event. I think this took the panic out of applying them and so they were a success, thanks Louise :) I also went for a green smokey eye rather than black/grey to make the lashes stand out. Louise gave me the advice of not using too dark a colour so that the lashes would be emphasised rather than disguised. I went through the false and my natural lashes with mascara after applying the rest of my make-up to help them intertwine and look a bit more together.

I removed the lashes with a bit of moisturiser at the end of the night and peeled off the glue so that I can hopefully re-use them. I gave them a gentle wipe over with a face wipe also to get some of the mascara off.

I love the flick at the outer edge

They did seem to sit slightly lower on one eye than the other, but I think that may be just down to my eye shapes.

I look like I have just seen a ghost, ha ha

I had a fabulous night out with my friend. We had dinner and drinks, but it all went too quickly. We will just have to do it again soon I guess so that I can have another go applying some more falsies ;) I got complimented on my eyes when I was out too. December Empties

Hi there everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the new year. I am still on leave, but will be returning to work on Monday :( Today I wanted to show you the products that I have used up in December and what I thought of them so I will get started.

Face

Simple Kind To Skin Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser ~ I purchased mine in Superdrug, but I can't find it on the website to tell you the price, sorry :(

The Information:

This Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser is a perfect blend of ingredients to visibly help reduce the size of pores. Helps to leave the skin feeling refreshed and clarified. Perfect for even sensitive skin. The special blend of Simple toning goodness containing Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Chamomile, Geranium and Witch Hazel, helps to keep your skin toned, clarified and refreshed.

NO PERFUME, NO COLOUR, NO UNNECESSARY INGREDIENTS so it won't upset your skin. Dermatologically Tested and Approved.

This product does not feel at all harsh on the skin. It has a smooth formula. I do want to try another cleanser though as I do end up using more cotton wool pads to removed dirt and grime from my face and neck than I would like. I have not noticed any pore minimising.

I received this product in my August GlossyBox. I tend to use my face washes while I am in the shower. This product does feel quite refreshing when you use it, but I don't have much more to say about it than that I'm afraid.

No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum ~ The Boots Pharmacy website is currently unavailable, but this product is usually around £20.00 for the tube

I started using this product years ago and fell in love with it straight away as the frown lines on my forehead pretty much disappeared. Recently though I have noticed more wrinkles and fine lines appearing on my face. I know it's a part of the ageing process, but as this product is not working as well for me I am looking for something to help smooth out those fine lines. I am tempted by the fairly new product on the market Nanoblur, but I am waiting to see more reviews on this. Have you tried Nanoblur or a similar product? Any good or bad? I am interested in anti-wrinkle/anti-ageing creams too :)

Caudalie Vinexpert Radiance Day Fluid SPF10 ~ Currently at reduced priced on feelunique.com of £27.55 for 30ml

The Information:

This energising fluid with SPF10 offers complete firming, protective and anti-wrinkle action along with optimum moisture to ensure a glowing complexion all day long.Main ingredients: anti-ageing grapevine Resveratrol anti-oxidant grapevine polyphenols(OPC), strengthening and moisturising Vinolevure, coppery pearlizers and light-reflecting pigments for an instant healthy glow, toning ginseng, nourishing and moisturising cassia angustifolia, sodium hyaluronate, shea butter, olive squalane and pea, soothing pro-vitamin B5 and camomile, encapuslated sun filter, energising cypress, basil, mint, galbanum, mandarin and ylang-ylang. 

I received this product in my October Feelunique Beauty Box. This does feel like a nice cream, but it has not done anything spectacular to my skin. Even for the reduced price I think I can find something far more affordable.

Face/Make-up

Accessorize With-Love Primer ~ £9.00 for 30ml

The Information:

  

Helps to even out skin tone while reducing shine. Improves foundation application and helps minimise skin imperfections. Make-up lasts longer and skin is left feeling velvety smooth all day.

This product does feel velvety smooth on the skin. Prior to this I was using Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I would much rather use this product as it's much more affordable and my make-up looks exactly the same. My one con for this product is that the hole it dispenses from is quite large so you may waste more product. Just be careful when you squeeze it out. I love the pretty design of the tube too.

Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light) ~ Not sure on price as not shown on Primark's website. I bought this at a reduced price of a about £2.00 over a year ago.

This concealer brush pen has lasted me absolutely ages. I think it's great value as it works just as well under my eyes as the YSL Touche Eclat and the Clarins concealer pens ever did. You just click the button at the end of the pen to dispense the product and brush on.

Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara ~ £11.80 

The Information:

Specially formulated to deliver long, sultry lashes, Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara is the only mascara a woman needs when she wants high-performance, luscious lashes. Application:

For maximum effect begin at the lash root and brush up with a slight wiggle back and forth.

I received this product in my August GlossyBox and I have to say I really don't like it. The big brush did not assist with maximising my lashes. It does not deliver any type of false lash effect. Not enough product comes out. My lashes were not lengthened, volumised or thickened. My eyes water a lot and although this does not claim to be a waterproof mascara this stuff ran all around my eye area the first time I used it. My eyes are very sensitive, especially on a windy day, but I have never experienced anything like this before. I would not recommend this product!

This lotion smells gorgeous. It's so fresh and juicy. I actually got this free as I received a Joy Card. I think I got it with Glamour Magazine. I took the card into The Body Shop and they told me the card was worth £3.00 so I got this lotion for free :) I would use this product again. The scent is fab and the cream is nice too.

Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Indulgent Hand & Body Lotion ~ £9.00 for 225ml

The Information:

I love this herbal scent. It's very autumnal as is the pacjkaging. This lotion feels lovely and sinks straight into the skin. I love the touch of the little leaf attached to the bottle. Unfortunately the pump stopped working for me about half way through using this. I would definitely recommedn this product.

This product feels so fresh and clean. I like the pump idea again. It's much easier to use in the shower. I lost the wee leaf that was attached to this :( I like the feeling of this cream on my skin. I would use this product in the future.

Avon Barbie Bubble-icious! Body Wash ~ I can no longer find this on the Avon website, sorry :(

This is not a fantastic body wash in scent, but I just got a kick out of it because of the packaging. It was fun to use just for that.

The Information:

Xmas Lunch/Secret Santa/OOTD/NOTD/FOTD

Hi you Beauties. Sorry that I was MIA last week. Other than work I had two work Xmas outings, two days of Xmas shopping at Bluewater and some other appointments. I have really missed blogging and of course you lovelies. Last week I went to a Mexican restaurant for a Xmas lunch outing with work. For those interested I had bacon and cheese potato skins, chicken fajitas and hot chocolate fudge cake. It was so delicious. I was carrying a food baby for the rest of the day, but it was so worth it. I thought I would show you my outfit for that day which was Tuesday 13th December.

Please excuse the dodgy make-up base as I in fact stayed at my other halves place the night before and forgot my foundation so I had to use the E.L.F. Studio Complete Coverage Concealer In Light as a foundation. Not a great look, but it was the best I could do.

The Max Factor Smoky Eye Effect Eyeshadow In Onyx Smoke, Liquid Effect Pencil In Black Fire and False Lash Effect Fusion Volume & Length Mascara were given to me for free on behalf of Alexandra from Ketchum Pleon PR. I was sent the mascara, and various colours of the eyeshadows/pencils. I was not asked to review these, but if you would like swatches, a review or FOTD's with these just let me know.

We also swapped Secret Santa presents prior to our lunch which were up to the value of £5 and this is what I received.

Some of us also went out for tapas, drinking and dancing at a bar/restaurant on Friday 16th December which was a really great night. Fantastic food and really great fun dancing. NOTD: Thinking of Xmas

Hey my loves. I hope you have all had a great day. I was flicking through some Xmas catalogues at the weekend and it got me in the mood to add some festive sparkle to my life. I then thought what better way than to paint my nails. So here is what I did :)

I painted every second nail with the StarGazer Nail Polish 155. This is a lovely shimmery red polish. You can buy it for £2.50 from stargazer-products.com. This nail polish goes on so smoothly.

I then applied this Accessorize Nail Polish in Shade 2 Goddess to the remaining unpainted nails. I love the colour of this nail polish. I think it goes perfectly with the red for that real Xmas vibe. I can not find this shade online unfortunately, but Accessorize Nail Polishes are available at Accessorize and Superdrug. The brush is a bit smaller on this polish than the StarGazer one and not as easily applied as it's not as thick a formula, but it still covers well.

I then applied the Claire's Green Glitter Nail Polish over the red nails and the Claire's Red Glitter Nail Polish over the green nails. I can not find these nail polishes on the Claire's website I'm afraid :( They do apply easily, but you don't really need to be as careful when applying these as they are just glitters and do not have a base colour within these nail polishes.
