NOTD: China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail Lacquer

Hey there beauts! How are we all? On Saturday morning I felt like I just wanted to encourage the sun to come out and wake myself up a bit so I painted my nails with this extreme nail lacquer.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat. I then applied four coats of this China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail Lacquer. This is a very thin formula and very streaky. I think this may work better if a white coat as a base colour were applied first to lessen the need for so many coats of this yellow shade. I will try that next time I apply it. There are still some streaks in the polish on my nails, but I do love this neon highlighter shade. The finish is matte. I completed this manicure by spraying the nails with my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

There are various places you can pick up this nail lacquer such as Amazon and Ebay as well as other sites. I would suggest copying and pasting the name into your search engine to find the latest deals. Most are between £3-£5.

Do you find applying a white base under nail colours lessens the need for more coats and makes the colour pop a little more? Leave your tips for streak free nails also in the comments below.

NOTD: China Glaze Hook And Line

Hello Cherubs. Are you having a good weekend so far? I do hope so. I have just painted my nails and thought you might like to see the shade.

I applied one coat of my Alessandro Pro White as a base coat, followed by two coats of this China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Hook And Line from the Capitol Colours The Hunger Games Collection. I received this in my May 2012 JolieBox. I could have got away with just one thick coat of this nail lacquer, but I forgot to cover my nail tips so I went over it with another coat. The finish is even and smooth. This shade did not impress me when I first saw it in my JolieBox, but on applying it today I do quite like it. It's not a really fun colour, but it does hold it's own. In my initial thoughts in the link above I describe this as grey putty, but today I see it as glossy cement. It looks like a khaki grey in the photo and looking at it now it does have a green tinge to it, but it's definitely more grey. If you like classic, easy to wear neutral shades you will like this one. I sealed the look with a spray of my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray.

I found this Nail Lacquer on sallyexpress.com for just £1.65.

Have you got any China Glaze favourites? Is this the kind of shade you would wear? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: London 2012 Olympics Inspired

Ello again. With the London 2012 Olympics fast approaching I felt inspired to get a bit creative with a NOTD post so here goes.

Firstly I applied one coat of my usual Rimmel base coat. I then applied two coats of my Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours 1 Minute Metal Shine Nail Polish in Gold Backstage. I thought gold would be a great background shade as the Olympics is all about going for gold. You can pick up this shade on miss-sporty.co.uk for £1.99

I then applied a blob of my Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours Quick Dry Nail Polish in the shade Pop Fiction to a pad of lined paper. You can use kitchen towels for this step if you prefer. I have had this pad for ages. I think I bought it at Poundland. They have a similar pad for £1.00 here. This blue shade you can buy from boots.com for £1.99. Boots currently have a 2 for £3.00 offer on selected Miss Sporty Nail Polish also.

I then dipped the end of one of these straws into the blob of nail polish and stippled this onto my nail over the gold polish and repeated this process until I was happy with the pattern. I bought these straws a while ago I believe from Poundland as well. They currently have these pack of 250 red, blue and white straws for £1.00. Red, blue and white is so appropriate for the London Olympics.

I repeated this process on the next nail using the other end of the straw and my China Glaze Nail Lacquer in the shade Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. This shade is quite a highlighter colour. It is quite a thin formula. I found this on amazon.co.uk for £5.95 and amazon.com for $5.25.

I then snipped one of the used ends of the straw rather than wasting another one and stippled on this E.L.F. Nail Polish in the shade Black. You can buy this nail polish from eyeslipsface.co.uk for £2.50.

I did the same thing on the next nail using my Barry M Nail Paint in the shade Spring Green. You can buy this shade for £2.99 from superdrug.com. Superdrug also have the offer of buy 2 save £1.00. You can also buy this shade from barrym.com for £2.99. Please note on the Barry M website this shade is shown as np290.

My last nail shade that I stippled with is the Barry M Nail Paint Bright Red. You can buy this shade from boots.com for £2.99barrym.com for £2.99 where it is shown as shade np262 or superdrug.com for £2.99 or buy 2 save £1.00.

I finished off the look with a spray of my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Spray.

Left Hand

Right Hand

I tried to find nail shades to represent the Olympic symbols and I quite like how stippling circles of these shades has worked out. I like the way these patterns look.

What do you think of this design? Have you created any Olympic inspired nail art? Will you be attending the Olympics?

Love to you all

May 2012 JolieBox: In Bloom ...

Hey All. The weather must be having it's time of the month as it's mood swings are doing my head in. In this post I want to show you the products I received in my May JolieBox named 'In Bloom ...'

Left To Right:

Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser, £7.50 for 15ml / £19.00 for 50ml

This feels nice enough when I tried a bit on my hand, but it's another rose scent which I'm bored of in beauty boxes now.

Talika Lipocils Expert, £27.00 for 10ml

I am pretty happy with my lashes, but I will keep this in case I feel they ever need a little help.

RMK Make Up Base, Link

When I tried this on my hand it feels very fresh, creamy and cooling. I am not sure of the usual price of this product as I could not find it on the RMK website.

China Glaze Professional Nail Lacquer (Hook And Line), Link

This is a full size product from The China Glaze Capitol Colours The Hunger Games Collection. I would describe this shade as a grey putty with a slight silver/purple duo chrome. I would have hoped for a bit more of a brightening shade for this time of year, but it is great that it's full size and from this collection. I am not sure of the usual price of this product.

In the May issue of JOLIEMAG there is an explanation of what BB Creams really are, product reviews, Day to Night Makeup, discounts, beauty tips and much more.

I am not blown away by this box I have to say. I will use the moisturiser, make up base and nail lacquer for sure. The Talika product I will keep for when needed. I am hoping that when I use one of these products it is going to blow me away because looking at them right now I'm sorry to say it looks like a bit of a boring box.

Not just because of this box as one box is no reason to unsubscribe, but my JolieBoxes keep turning up late or not at all and I have to keep chasing after them. Also I have received an email today telling me that my payment has failed for my June JolieBox. This keeps happening lately and I'm getting fed up with it now. I will sleep on it tonight, but I may unsubscribe.

For more information on JolieBox check out this Link.

Have you had trouble like me receiving your boxes or having them turn up late? Are you having trouble paying for your boxes with no reason you can think of?

Love to you all

NOTD: China Glaze Nail Lacquer Purple Panic (Neon)

Hey Loves. It looks like it might be a nice weekend weather wise which is fab. I really fancied a POW pop of colour on my nails which I will show you in this NOTD.

Firstly I applied one coat of my usual Rimmel base coat. I then applied two coats of this China Glaze Nail Lacquer Purple Panic (Neon). The brush of this nail lacquer I would prefer to be a little bigger as it can leave the odd streak, but with two thick coats I made it work. This neon colour dries to a matte finish so I sealed the look with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Spray so that I could still keep that matte effect. I would say this shade is more pink with a definite purple undertone. I love neon nails and if you are in a style rut I think a pop of colour on the nails will brighten any outfit. You can purchase this nail lacquer from amazon.co.uk at various prices, ebay.co.uk at various prices, amazon.com for $5.38, ebay.com for a pack of three at $12.99, ravencosmetics.co.uk for £6.95, nailpolishdirect.co.uk for £5.95 and sallybeauty.com for $5.99 or $4.99 with a beauty club card.

Are you a fan of neon nails? What are your favourites? Do you like the matte look on your nails?

NOTD: A Matte & Gloss Neon Summer

Ello me loves. How gorgeous is it outside today? I love it. I won't waste any time in getting into my post which is a NOTD.

Firstly I applied one coat of my usual Rimmel base coat. I then applied three coats of each of the two coloured shades. I usually only apply two coats, but I felt that these nail polishes needed three to get the kind of complete coverage that I like. I picked up both of these nail polishes when I visited Olympia Beauty for the 1st time last year. You can find my post on that here. I hadn't realised that the China Glaze shade was matte, but I liked mixing the two finishes in this manicure. I painted the two nail shades alternately. The nails on my other hand are painted in reverse. So the nails that are pink on this hand are orange on the other and vice versa. I painted over the orange shade with my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat as it already had a glossy finish. I left the pink nails without a top coat to keep them matte.

The China Glaze Nail Lacquer is in the shade Pool Party from the Poolside Collection. Here is an Ebay link with various prices. That link shows a closer match of how the product actually looks, but as it dries matte it's not as vibrant as in the bottle. I could not get it to show up on camera, sorry.

The Queen Nail Lacquer does not have a shade name. It just says on the bottle for professionals only. I have searched online for you, but I can't find it. If you like this shade I would recommend to try and pick it up at Olympia Beauty this year if you are thinking of visiting the show. The colour actually shows up more neon than the photos, but the photos are pretty close. The last photo in this post is the most true.

Do you like to mix your nail textures? Are you into hot nail shades for the summer?

Love to you all

My 1st Olympia Beauty Visit/Haul

Hello Sweethearts. I hope you are all well? I attended Olympia Beauty for the first time on Sunday 18th September and had a great day. I got so many fab purchases that I thought you may like to see.

Me getting ready to go. Now onto my purchases :)

These Queen Nail Lacquers were £1.20 each, but if you bought 5 you got 1 free so I paid £6.00 for all of them. Such a cheap price and fab colours, but they do not have names/numbers. I have never heard of Queen before and I am not sure where you can buy them, sorry.

I do not own any China Glaze Nail Lacquers so I just had to get these to try. These were £3.95 each. Left-Right: Purple Panic (Neon), Pool Party, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini & Shocking Pink (Neon). Here is a link to the China Glaze website Link :).

O.P.I. Nail Lacquers in Left-Right: Color So Hot It Berns, My Chihuahua Bites!, Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It, OPI On Collins Ave. & Bright Lights - Big Color.

O.P.I. Nail Lacquers in Left-Right: That's Berry Daring, Altar Ego, Pink Flamenco, Princesses Rule!, Charged Up Cherry, Rosy Future, Señorita Rose-Alita & Got A Date To-Knight!

O.P.I. Nail Lacquers in Left-Right: Purple With A Purpose, Mod About You, The Color To Watch, Steady As She Rose & A Grape Fit!

O.P.I. Nail Lacquers in Left-Right: Blue My Mind, Dating A Royal, Funny Bunny, DS Bold, Bring On The Bling & Blue Shatter.

As you may be able to tell I went a bit crazy at the Lena White O.P.I. stand. I have never tried an O.P.I. polish before either and as they are spoken so highly of I just couldn't resist getting such a huge variety. These were £5.70 each. Here is a link to the Lena White OPI UK website Link :).

These Brushes were from Crown Brush. The two on the left were either £3/4? The large brush on the right was £9 and is so soft. There were no names/numbers on these brushes.

This brush was also from Crown Brush. This is called IB119 Deluxe Crease. This was either £3/4? Here is a link to the Crown Brush website Link :).

These Girls With Attitude Designer Tattoos were only £1 per pack so I got two. I think they will be really pretty around the wrist. See the link here for their website Link :).

This Glitter Body Art Kit contains 20 stencils, 7 pots of glitter, 1 bottle of adhesive and a set of 3 brushes. This I believe cost £12. I have had one of these butterfly tattoos put on my hand at another show before and thought it may be fun to try myself. The glitters I can use for nails or make-up too so I think it was worth getting.

I also bought some tattoo stencils and glitters that were not included within the kit. Left-Right: 13 stencils, Glitters in Black, Red, Gun Metal, Raspberry Dazzle, Gold Dazzle & Royal Blue. I think this was 4 stencils for £1.00. I got 1 free. I also believe it was 5 glitters for £5.00. I got 1 glitter free. Here is a link to the website here Link :).

These StarGazer Permanent Tattoo Pens come in a variety of colours and I got most of them. I also got the Correction Pen as I am sure I will make mistakes. I thought this would be another fun way of experimenting at creating my own tattoo designs and great for some of the shades to double up as eye liner/lip liner. Although they say permanent the swatches I did on my wrist at the show came off when I had a shower so do not let this worry you.

Left-Right: StarGazer Violet Mascara, StarGazer 106 lipstick, StarGazer Glitter Shakers in UV Pink & UV Yellow.

In total I paid £60.00 for all of the StarGazer products. I think they charged me a bit less than they should have as I bought so much and they threw in this bag too. Here is a link to their website Link :).

Peggy Sage Paris Eyeliner in Ocean. This eyeliner is a fantastically bold blue. I had not heard of Peggy Sage before so I bought 4 of these in case I didn't find them anywhere. I am that in love with this colour and at £4.40 each I thought they were a steal. Unfortunately the peggysage.co.uk website is down so I can not put a link in, sorry.

It was so busy at Olympia Beauty, but so worth going. I only wish that I had now attended the Make Up Theatre to see David Horne from Illamasqua and Louise Constad from MAC, but I got so wrapped up in all the lovely things that I missed the seminars.

Please note that all the prices in this post are what I paid on the day and may vary from the usual pricing!

Did you attend Olympia Beauty? What wonderful things did you buy? Did you attend any of the seminars? If so, did you find them interesting?

Love to you all
