STARGAZER NAIL DECOR

Hello lovelies. I am rather bored at the moment doing washing and general house stuff so I thought a perfect distraction from all the mundane tasks of life would be to blog so here I am with a sparkly post for you :)

I was very kindly sent these beautiful nail art pots to review for you. These glitter flakes can be applied with nail glue or wet nail polish. Feeling in a Gothic mood with Halloween coming up I went for the Black Nail Decor.

I applied a clear coat for a base and used a teaspoon to sprinkle them over the nails when they were still wet. As I wanted to try them with a clear polish I went over them again to seal the top and manoeuvre them into place. They did move about a bit, but once the polish had dried they were set in place. As you can see I applied a generous amount, but you could be more specific in your design if you wanted just a few dotted around and carefully place them onto your nails with tweezers. A big tip would be to put a tissue or towel underneath the pot when opening and also applying these Nail Decor designs as they do like to spread everywhere. My pots were quite overfilled which is great because you get more product, but not so great for stopping it going everywhere.

This shade I would say is more of a dark gunmetal grey than black. It has multi-coloured reflects like you would see in oil when it catches the light. The UV Pink is slightly translucent and very pretty. I think it would work best on white or very bright shades to show off the colour. The Gold Decor is a rich colour which to me looks like it has a green undertone. Think of the type of gold you see on Xmas chains that you hang from the ceiling.

I applied these to two accent nails. While I have been doing chores today the left one has stayed put and the right one came off in one piece. Because nails are curved and I applied a lot of flakes I think that one of the flakes didn't stick down as well as the others causing the design to come away. So one nail lasted a day and the other is still going strong. I am not sure if using something like the Seche Vite Fast Dry Topcoat would help them to last longer, but for this type of nail art when you are doing chores etc I think most designs won't last that long.

So my overall thoughts are that these are best for a night out or event. Especially this festive season. Just make sure that you put your feet up when you have applied them and laze like a sparkly princess until after your nail debut at least :)

The STARGAZER NAIL DECOR flakes also come in a multi-colour shade and there are two sphere designs in black or silver which are the caviar effect nail art.

Let me know your tips for making nail art like this last longer along with your favourite nail art products in the comments below.

NAILS: PASTEL DUO

Hi there loves. It's been pretty good weather over the Bank Holiday weekend which has been unusual for us Brits so I hope you all have enjoyed it.

I have a wee NOTD post for you of a duo that I think is perfect for pastel lovers.

I applied one coat of base coat followed by 2 coats of each of these nail shades and finished with a nail drying spray.

Mod About You is a very pale milky pink. It's currently on offer at Amazon for a bargain £6.99.

Pale Purple seems to be now known as Berry Ice Cream so I hope it's the same shade. I have linked to Superdrug above as they currently have a 3 for 2 offer on. This is sold out online, but you will hopefully find it in store.

Let me know your favourite pastel shades in the comments below.

HOT CROSS BUN PASTEL SPRING EASTER NAILS

Hello again lovelies. I painted my nails yesterday feeling inspired by spring and Easter time and here they are.

Please excuse this not so in focus photo. Pastel shades always make a comeback at this time of year and so I wanted to include a mixture of them in this manicure. I thought the nude shade would be perfect to use under my hot cross bun stripes which my boyfriend pointed out should be vertical and horizontal, but oh well I think that's just being picky, ha ha. I wanted my nails to have a sprinkle of glitter too for a speckled effect. As these shades were quite milky I applied three coats of each for a dense colour pay off after my base coat. I used a white striper for the hot cross bun stripes and finished off with a nail drying spray.

Products Used:

It looks as though the E.L.F. and StarGazer polishes may have been discontinued, but hopefully you can find them on Ebay or Amazon. Alternatively you can use similar a similar nude and shimmer to recreate this look. The StarGazer striper I purchased a long time ago in a set so I would search online for that too as I think you can also buy them individually.

If you have created any spring time and/or Easter inspired nails please leave links in the comments below.

NOTD: STARGAZER 172 NAIL POLISH

Hello again my sweets. The sun is shining and I am sure most of you are happy at the thought of the spring/summer season opening up to us. I am always a fan of embracing the lighter and brighter palettes that come along at this time of year, but there are days when I still feel the need to turn to the dark side. Here in this NOTD post you will see what I mean.

I am really into textures at the moment and although I purchased this nail polish some time ago I never actually got round to using it. It looks nothing like I expected at all. It is much more of a murky black which has hints of brown mixed with silver glitters. I did have to paint 3 layers to get this level of cover, but I think the results are worth it. This Gothic shade is still very wearable. I like to think of it as the night sky on my nails. StarGazer appear to have discontinued this nail polish, but I did find it on another website for a bargain price of currently £1.37 linked above!

Are you like me any will wear any shade at any time of year? Let me know your favourite nail polishes from StarGazer in the comments below.

NOTD: Nails Inc. Belgrave Square Nail Polish

Hey there beauts. Massive love to you all. Today I have a NOTD post for you. It's a gorgeous summer shade that I just can not hide from you and here it is.

I started off with one coat of my Rimmel stronger base coat followed by three coats of this Nails Inc. Belgrave Square Nail Polish. I usually want to only use two coats at most when painting my nails, but this shade is quite a thin formula. You can still actually see the tip line of nails through it. I have to say that this colour is gorgeous though. It's a very pinky coral with gold shimmer. Beautiful for this time of year. I finished off this manicure with my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

I am afraid I could not add a link in for this product as anywhere that did stock it appears to have sold out for now. I would suggest Ebay or Amazon if you really want this shade.

What are you favourite Nails Inc. shades? Are you a fan of coral on the nails? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Rio Multi-Colour Glitter Nail Varnish

Hey everyone. I have a really sparkly nail post for you today that I hope you will like. I felt the need to sparkle and multi-colour felt like the way to go with this gorgeous summer weather.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel stronger base coat followed by one coat of this MUA Nail Varnish Shade 10. I have a feeling this may be a limited edition shade. I think I got this free in Superdrug when they were giving away 2 MUA nail shades if you bought 2 bottles of diet coke. Please let myself and others know in the comments below if this was a limited edition shade. You could use any neutral shade for this look. I just wanted something to take away the yellow staining on my nails. This is a champagne shade, but beige, cream, white, silver or gold would work with this look too.

I then applied 2 coats of this Chit Chat Nail Varnish in the shade Rio over the top. This was a Xmas present that I asked for and I am glad that I did. It was just £1.00 from Poundland. There are smaller and larger glitter particles in shades of red, blue, green, silver and gold.

I think this makes you look like you have put more effort into decorating your nails than you actually have. Chips do not show up as easily with this manicure either as there is no defined line at the tip of your nails. Great for a long wearing look. I finished off with my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

I have not added links into this post as I can't find these on the web, but hopefully your local stores will stock these if not something similar.

What are your favourite glitter shades? Have you found some great cheap nail polishes that you think could be dupes? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Ciate London Paint Pot Pocket Money (PP107)

Hi there cuties. I woke up early this morning so I thought why not sort through my emails and blog. I have a NOTD post for you today.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel Stronger Base Coat followed by two coats of this Ciate London Paint Pot Pocket Money (PP107) which I received in my July GlossyBox. This is described as a creamy fudge nude and I couldn't put it any better myself. Nudes can either look right or wrong I think on the nails as depending on your skin tone they can sometimes make you look like you have no nails at all. As this is a deeper nude and I am obviously very pale I think this looks like a nice stand out nude. Because it is a nude though it so wearable with anything. The long handle made it easy to apply. I have always liked the look of the Ciate bottles as they are so cute and feminine while still looking mature enough for all ages. I love the name of this shade. It makes me feel immature in a good way :) The product itself lasted really well on my nails. It only started to chip after about 5/6 days. This manicure was finished off with a coat of my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

You can pick up this product for £9.00 for 13.5ml here.

What are your favourite Ciate Paint Pots? Do you have any favourite nudes from any brand? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Rimmel Sky High (825)

Hey there peeps. I don't think I have mentioned a review about this nail polish before. It's a colour that when I saw it on a blogger I think some time ago I went on the hunt for it.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel Stronger base coat followed by two coats of this Rimmel Sky High (825) nail polish. To be honest it would have pleased me more if I had painted three coats as there were some faded patches where it didn't cover so well, but I didn't notice this until the next day. This aqua shade is simple and fresh. It would be a great basis for summer nail art with a water or sky background and is not bright so is very easy to wear. I took this photo after applying the polish, but I have now been wearing this for four days and there is barely any chipping. I would not say that this dries in 60 seconds, but it does dry pretty quickly. I finished off my nails in this manicure with my Elegant Touch Nail drying Spray.

The best price I found for this nail polish is £1.49.

What are your favourite watery/sky shades? Do you have any favourites from Rimmel? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail Lacquer

Hey there beauts! How are we all? On Saturday morning I felt like I just wanted to encourage the sun to come out and wake myself up a bit so I painted my nails with this extreme nail lacquer.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat. I then applied four coats of this China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail Lacquer. This is a very thin formula and very streaky. I think this may work better if a white coat as a base colour were applied first to lessen the need for so many coats of this yellow shade. I will try that next time I apply it. There are still some streaks in the polish on my nails, but I do love this neon highlighter shade. The finish is matte. I completed this manicure by spraying the nails with my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

There are various places you can pick up this nail lacquer such as Amazon and Ebay as well as other sites. I would suggest copying and pasting the name into your search engine to find the latest deals. Most are between £3-£5.

Do you find applying a white base under nail colours lessens the need for more coats and makes the colour pop a little more? Leave your tips for streak free nails also in the comments below.

NOTD: Barry M Nail Paint Pale Purple (308)

Hi there lovely people and welcome back. I hope you are having a great week so far. On Saturday evening I painted my nails with a pretty nail shade that I'd like to show you.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of this Barry M Nail Paint in the shade Pale Purple (308). I applied this late at night by a lamp so I would say this is hard to make a mistake with. For those of you that like your pastel shades this ones for you. A very pretty pastel lilac for the summer time. This will be the perfect accent to those floral summer dresses. I think it will also work well with other pastel shades if you want to mix and match colours. This manicure was finished off with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray.

You can pick up this 10ml Barry M nail shade for £2.99 from Barry M although shade 308 now appears to be called Berry Ice Cream. You should also be able to find this product in most Boots and Superdrug stores.

Do you have this nail paint? Is Berry Ice Cream the same colour as Pale Purple? Please let myself and others know in the comments below.

Are you a fan of lilac shades? If so, which ones are your favourites? Which Barry M Nail Paints do you most like and why? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: MeMeMe Cosmetics Long Lasting Nail Gloss Wild (82)

Hey lovelies. How are you all on this windy Saturday? My ears and head are killing me right now, but I need to do something or I will go crazy so blogging it is :)

Today I want to show you the gorgeous nail shade that came in this month's GlossyBox.

I painted one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of this MeMeMe Cosmetics Long Lasting Nail Gloss in the shade Wild (82). It's a really beautiful deep purple that looks brighter in some lighting and almost like a black purple at other times. It is a glossy polish, but I did add an unnamed top coat here. The brush with this polish is quite wide and I don't know if I was just having a clumsy day, but I found it to be just a bit too big for easy application. This lasted about four or five days before chipping so pretty good.

This 12ml nail polish is available for £5.00 here or you could try and find it in your local Superdrug.

What are your favourite MeMeMe Cosmetics products? Do you have any favourite purple nail shades from any brand? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Mavala Nail Colour (06) Osaka

Hey the Beauts. How are ya doin? Good I hope. I painted my nails over the weekend with the nail shade I picked up from my Udozi shopping trip, Link. So here is how it looks.

I applied one coat of my usual Rimmel base coat followed by three coats of this Mavala Nail Colour (06) Osaka. I have never used a Mavala polish before so I was dying to try this. It is a little more pearlescent on the nails than it looks in this photo when the light catches it. It's a really pretty light milky pink shade. I will have to be more careful when applying this next time as after taking this photo I managed to smudge my nails. I think I applied this a little too thickly to try and achieve an opaque finish and didn't leave the nails enough time to dry even after applying my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray.

If you prefer lighter nail shades I would certainly recommend this. Especially if you want polished looking nails, but don't have time for that French or American manicure.

I found this online at £3.66 for 5ml

Are you a fan of Mavala Nail Colours? What are your favourite shades? Let me know in the comments below.

Travel Supermarket Beauty & The Beach 2 Holiday Nails Competition

Hi there my loves. Are you going on holiday this year and stuck for make-up, hair or nail ideas to make you look gorgeous while you are away? Maybe you have some ideas you would like to share with others of your favourite beach to bar looks? Travel Supermarket are running a Beauty & The Beach 2 Competition where you can enter your favourite holiday looks in the make-up, hair or nail categories. With each category you have the chance to win £500. You can enter 1, 2 or 3 categories and an overall winner will win £1,500. I am entering the holiday nails section so here is my entry :)

I first applied one coat of Rimmel Stronger Double Duty Base Coat, followed by two coats of E.L.F. Coral Nail Polish. One coat covered the nails really well, but to make the manicure last longer I added another layer. This colour is so gorgeous and I think a perfect sunshine shade to take you from bright sunny days to hot summer nights. It is coral as the name states, but it has this fantastic golden shimmer running through it to really make the coral shade pop. I wanted to add an aztec/tribal feel to the nails so I used 2 coats of the E.L.F. Black Nail Polish on the middle finger to add a triangle tip and with a clear top coat (unnamed) I painted this around the triangle and added random coloured rhinestones with my tweezers, dropping them on gently and pressing lightly to seal them down. I went over each nail with the clear top coat to seal the whole manicure.

Products Used:

Rimmel Stronger Double Duty Base Coat, £4.15 for 12ml

E.L.F. Coral Nail Polish, $2.00 for 10ml on eyeslipsface.com*

E.L.F. Black Nail Polish**

Clear Top Coat From a 99p Stores Nail Art Set (unnamed)

At Your Fingertips Square/Diamond Rhinestones (green, gold, red, blue & pink)***

*Coral looks like a golden shade now on eyelipsface.co.uk for £2.50.

**Black is no longer available at eyeslipsface.co.uk. There is a black on eyeslipsface.com, but it is part of the E.L.F. Essential 15-Piece Nail Polish Set - Limited Edition for $15.00 and I am not sure if it is the same formula.

***These Rhinestones are no longer available in this style from At Your Fingertips, but add square/diamond rhinestone wheel to your search engine and many colour/style options will pop up.

As the E.L.F. Coral shade is hard to get hold of now I would suggest using a regular coral shade in one coat with a gold shimmer of one coat on top to create the same effect. For the black any black nail polish will work and the rhinestones you should have fun with using the shape and colours you like.

If you would like to enter this competition then check out this link

I nominate these 5 fellow bloggers to enter by Wednesday 5th June 2013:

Good luck to all that enter for each category. If you have entered already then why not share your entries in the comments below.

NOTD: Queen Nail Lacquer Silver Glitter

Hi there cuties. I hope you are having a fab Saturday. Today I am catching up on some chores, but I wanted to blog about my current manicure as it is gorgeous and lasting really well.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of this Queen Nail Lacquer. With just two coats I managed to get full coverage on each nail with no spacing between the glitters. I think this is really hard to find in a glitter nail polish as they are usually just clear polish with minimal glitter to use as a top coat over a colour, but sometimes I just want a BAM of glitter. This is a silver glitter that does not have a name. I believe this brand is only sold to professionals. I picked this up at Olympia Beauty in 2011, link. These were £1.20 each, but as I got 6 I got 1 free :) This photo was taken today (Saturday) and I painted this manicure on Wednesday evening so these have lasted 3 days and are just starting to chip. They may have lasted longer with a top coat, but I just used my Elegant Touch Nail Drying Spray on these. Here is a link to Olympia Beauty if you are interested in attending this year.

What are your favourite nail glitters? Have you found any that give a finish like this? Will you be attending Olympia Beauty this year? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Nails Inc. Portobello Nail Polish

Hey lovelies. I woke up early today and thought why not blog so here I am. I painted my nails last night and here are the results.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of Nails Inc. Portobello. This is a gorgeous neon orange matte shade which I think can look like it has a very, very slight pinky undertone to it in some lighting. It's a really fun shade. For some reason I usually prefer neon shades on shorter nails so this came in at the right time as I cut my nails before applying this. I received this in my May GlossyBox. As usual I still don't like the metallic lid on these polishes because I find them less easy to control than others. I have received some nice shades in my GlossyBox from Nails Inc., but I would like to try other brands now. My bottle has little smudge marks on the front of which looks like nail polish so not good GlossyBox! I finished off my manicure with my nail drying spray from Elegant Touch.

You can pick this up for £9.90 at lookfantastic.com or amazon.co.uk both with free delivery.

What are your favourite Nails Inc. shades? Do you have any favourite neon's from another brand? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: E.L.F. Fair Pink Nail Polish

Hey lovelies. I hope you are having a sweet Sunday. Where the heck has the sun gone eh? I have just painted my nails so here is the polish I used.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by four coats of this E.L.F. Nail Polish in the shade Fair Pink. This is a really milky white baby pink shade. I do adore the end result, but I must admit after the third coat I almost called it a day. I can't stand streaky nail polish so I gave the fourth coat a go and I'm glad I did. The finish is now opaque yet it took some work to get there. I know pale milkier shades usually apply more translucent and streaky, but I wasn't certain that this was going to finish nicely as too many layers can end up with too thick a coat on the nail that just ends up smudging and creasing. If you like this type of shade and you are happy to apply four coats to get this finish then that's great, but if you are more impatient then I am sure there are other brands that provide a similar result with less coats needed. I finished the manicure with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray.

Unfortunately I have looked on both the UK and US E.L.F. websites and this shade no longer appears to be available. I did however find it on ebay.com for $5.75 with free shipping.

What are your favourite E.L.F. Nail Polish shades? What are your favourite pale pink shades from any brand? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: A Little Zest

Hey Everybody. I am watching SuperScrimpers while blogging away. Who else loves this programme? Today I have a NOTD post for you.

I fancied a bit of a blank canvas on my nails with a touch of colour so I added a bit of zest. I started with one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of the O.P.I. Nail Lacquer Funny Bunny. I then used the striper part of my StarGazer Nail Art pens in the shades Yellow and UV Green to add dashes of random zesty colour. It's a bit childlike, but it's a quick and easy way to add a little bit of quirk to the nails. I then finished off the manicure with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray.

O.P.I. Nail Lacquer Funny Bunny ~ An off white shade that is a little translucent so needs at least three coats to be fully opaque, £7.45 for 15ml or $5.30.

StarGazer Nail Art pens in the shades:

Yellow ~ A bold primary yellow shade

UV Green ~ A fluoro green shade

The StarGazer Nail Art Pens can either be bought singular or in sets of the regular colours and UV colours. There are so many places to buy them so it's best to use your search engine to find the best deal for you.

What simple nail art do you like to do when time is of the essence, but you still want to add a touch of difference? let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Essie Nail Lacquer She's Pampered

Hi there beautiful people. What are you all up to this Saturday? Today I have just a wee post for you of the gorgeous nail lacquer I received in my GlossyBox this month, link.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of this Essie Nail Lacquer She's Pampered. You could get away with one coat if you are in a hurry, but it annoys me when I can see my natural white (yellow stained) tips showing through the colour even just a little bit so I applied two coats. This is one of those classic red shades that you could wear with any outfit. I described this in my GlossyBox post as a rose scarlet shade and I would still agree with that description.

You can buy this nail shade for £7.99 from Boots or Superdrug. You can also order it from amazon.com for $5.85.

I finished off the manicure with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray.

What are your favourite Essie nail shades? What are your favourite red shades for the nails from any brand? Let me know in the comments below.

NOTD: Purple With Red Glitter

Hi there my loves. I hope you are well today. I want to share with you my current manicure as I can't stop looking at it because I love it so.

I applied one coat of my Rimmel base coat followed by two coats of my Primark Glo Baby Glo! UV Reactive Nail Polish (Ultra Violet). This is an almost regal purple shade that looks gorgeous by itself however I felt the need to add some glitter. I am not sure if Primark still sell this shade sorry, but it was very inexpensive if they do.

I added two coats of my Chit Chat Nail Varnish (Crimson/Red Glitter). I think this adds a really nice splash of glitz to the nails to make the purple pop even more. I asked for this at Xmas as it was just £1.00 from Poundland for 12ml. I can not find this exact colour online, but here is a link to another shade from this range so that you can get more of an idea of the glitters. There are smaller and larger glitter particles in this red shade, but they are all the same colour.

I finished of the look with my Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Nail Spray. I think that these look fun and pretty while sparkling in the sunlight.

Which glitters do you like to layer over nail colours to make them pop? Tell me your favourite combinations in the comments below.

Love to you all
