NV COLOUR COSMETICS BLACK CAT FELT TIP EYELINER

Hi there you beauties. Happy Friday to you all. I hope you are all smiling for the weekend :) I have been playing with make-up all week so I already have a smile on my face. I was sent an eyeliner to review for you and here it is.

Designed for precision and ease of use with a super stay formula to create eyeliner looks to suit your style.

I have been using this eyeliner pretty much every day this week and let me tell you from the first time using it I was surprised at how much it excited me.

I have been using eyeliner felt pens for quite some time, but this eyeliner made application so easy. The pen is a perfect size to hold between fingers. It really did feel like I could just swoop it along my lash line without any mistakes.

Quick tip: Rest your pinkie finger on your cheek for a steady hand to apply eyeliner!

It is very precise and although quite black when I tested it on my hand at first it does not look as black on my eyes.

The tapered nib of the pen has bent just a little at the end (see middle photo) after using it a few times so that's a bit frustrating, but I have still managed to create the above line with it today.

This is super long lasting liner as I applied it in the week for work at about 6am and removed it around 7pm most days. It still looked perfect without any smudging, fading or patchiness.

This product also comes in shades of Blue Velvet and Twilight Purple. Perfect for Halloween eyes if you want a dramatic look.

Have you tried any NV COLOUR COSMETICS products yet? If yes, let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Also tell me your wish list products if they are a new brand to you.

FESTIVAL EYES: MAJENTA BEAUTY

Hi there lovelies. How fabulous is the sunshine, yay :) It's such a nice feeling to have another bank holiday weekend with another one to come this month, whoop whoop! I have a photo filled post for you today showing off a great eye palette that was sent to me for free by Majenta Beauty to review for you. So here is a little intro ....

Majenta Beauty is the make-up brand founded by Jane Lyons who has an outstanding background. Jane has owned beauty and hair salons, delivered training seminars, written numerous articles for glossy and professional magazines, been a resident make-up artist on TV and a beauty consultant, phew! Jane has created a product range that has basics along with more fun and pigmented products. Jane's daughter Laura-Jane has since joined Majenta Beauty's marketing team in 2013. With a background also in hair and beauty as well as business and marketing from university I am sure Laura-Jane has been a great addition at Majenta.

This lightweight yet secure packaging comes with a small mirror inside perfect for travel. This shadow palette allows you to pick your own shades and formulations whether they be matte or shimmer. Moonwalk I would describe as a blue grey with gold shimmer. Lazy Days is kind of a pearl skin tone shade that glows subtly without the shimmer particles that Moonwalk has. Each shadow has the name stamped on its magnetic back so that for a refill it's easy to know the product name. The exposed top of the packaging makes the shadows easy to see at a glance which is handy for make-up hoarders like myself. Its great that the eye shadows can be taken in and out of the palette so that you can keep them with you for your chosen look of the day in case touch ups are needed. The shadow applicator that came with this palette does feel of better quality than most applicators of this kind, but I prefer using my make-up brushes to get a better blended look.

So how did I create this look? It was very simple really. I applied the shade lazy days to the lids and inner parts of the eyes. Moonwalk I applied to the outer V, in the crease and under the eyes. I didn't want to use too many products on the eyes so that you could really see the shades. I did not use an eye primer either as I wanted to see how pigmented the products are and how well they last alone. I have been wearing this look for about 5 hours now. There is no creasing or fading in the shadows. I do however think that they may show up a little more pigmented with an eye primer. They are easily buildable, especially the shade Moonwalk. I think this is a perfect palette combo for beginners as well as those wanting an everyday or buildable day to night look. These shadows are a little powdery and there is some glitter fallout from the shade Moonwalk so you may want to create your eye look first before applying the rest of your make-up.

With the names Lazy Days and Moonwalk in mind I couldn't help thinking of summer festivals and parties which inspired me to create this wearable day to night look which I think is sexy without being OTT.

Majenta also have some bolder shades which I would love to check out as I think they would be perfect for summer season.

Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara & Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner

Hi there lovelies. How gorgeous has the sunshine been today eh? Much better than the wind and rain we have been putting up with in the UK that's for sure.

Today I have 2 make-up items to review for you which were sent to me for free to try out. The are the Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara (Black) & Max Factor Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner (Excessive Charcoal/Black).

Left Eye: With Products, Right Eye: Without Products

Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara (Black) ~ Usually £12.99, but currently £9.99 at Boots until 19th Feb! Also currently £9.99 at Superdrug!

This mascara as you can see is a 2 step double ended system. The left brush (Step 1 Extreme Volume) is quite a thick barrelled plastic brush with bristles shorter at the tip. This is your base coat. For those wanting an easy everyday eye some may like this base as their mascara alone as it separates the lashes really well giving a fanned out effect that looks very natural and feels very light on the lashes like you are not wearing mascara. I applied 2 coats of this to my upper lashes, then the excess remaining on my brush to my lower lashes.

Step 2 Dark Lacquer has a thinner traditional mascara bristle brush that again tapers towards the tip. This is the part that really makes an impact adding a jet black pigment, volumising and thickening the lashes. When applying be sure to press the wand against your lashes and sweep upwards towards your lids to get the best curved lash shape. There really is no need to curl lashes before using this mascara.

I do love this mascara for the effect it gives and the need for only one product rather than three. By that I mean lash curler, mascara primer and regular mascara. However I can not remove this without eye make-up remover as it really is budge proof. It is recommended that an oil based remover is used though. It does also smudge under my lower lashes and I like wearing mascara there. I do not think it has a glossy, patent finish as advertised. This mascara also comes in the shade Black/Brown. Suitable for contact lens wearers.

Max Factor Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner (Excessive Charcoal/Black) ~ Usually £6.99, currently £4.99 at Boots!

This is a twist up crayon eyeliner with a click shut lid. This shade is definitely a charcoal black as it is not as intense as other liners I have used. The formula is quite smooth, but does not glide on as smoothly as my E.L.F. mineral eye liner. The product works better around my eyelid than on my waterline as I get a deeper finish on my skin. Trying it today it is staying on my waterline pretty well, but the first time I tried it there my eyes were a little watery and it would not show up at all.

This comes in 5 other shades of Excessive Green, Excessive Aqua, Excessive Gold, Excessive Silver and Excessive Brown. The eyeliners are self-sharpening although this is not something you can actually see. They are smudge-proof and have a flexible water-proof film for a longer lasting hold of 12 hour intensity.

If you try this product do not twist up too much as you can not twist it back down. Each twist has a click so only twist up when needed.

If you try these products then why not follow the latest selfie craze and post your #selfeye

Link me up on Twitter @vickyayles with yours if you do. I have already posted mine ;)

I hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know your favourite mascaras and eyeliners with reasons why in the comments below.

Beauty Cutey Intro & Dreamweave & Co Lash Construct Magnet Mascara Black Review

Hi there wonderful people. Happy, happy, joy, joy the sun is out. I ventured out today in my short acidwash dungarees and a white t-shirt. No jacket for me which is unheard of and I was not cold, yipee!

Anyway today I have a mascara for you that was sent to me for free by Beauty Cutey to review.

Dreamweave & Co Lash Construct Magnet Mascara Black. I do like the packaging of this mascara. It's a simple gold tube, but I think it stands out from all the cheaper looking plastic styles out there.

The plastic brush head is has spokes all around it, but none on top like some other brands do. The brush head flexes at the end of the wand so it is not stiff. I do like this type of wand as I think it gives the best type of application for me. The formula of the mascara itself is quite wet as you can probably see from this photo.

Before mascara. You can see the blonde tips of my lashes.

I applied one coat to the top lashes and used the remaining product on the lower lashes.

I added a second coat to the top lashes only as I prefer a thicker flutter on top.

Here is a little info about the product:

Dreamweave & Co have developed a brand new system using ‘WIDE LASH’ technology that will thicken and nourish the root and stem in 15 days. When Dreamweave mascara is applied it gives a weightless lengthening and flexible flutter with no smudges, clumps or panda eyes. With its ‘go to bed’ formulation you can wake up and still be mascared.

I would say that this mascara is definitely thickening as the silicone formula wraps around your lashes which is why they advise to apply to one side of your lashes first and then the other. I have always applied mascara to the top of my lashes and then the underneath as any eyeshadow used will fall onto your lashes so when you look downwards or close your eyes this will show unless you coat the top too. Just a little tip ;)

I do not find the formula clumpy unless applying two coats as I do, but even then it's only very slight. As the idea is not to go back over the mascara once you have coated both sides I can't really fault the mascara for this anyway.

The pigment is very black which I really like. The formula is quite wet and so it's easy to transfer the mascara onto your lids if you are in a rush like I was here, but as long as you are careful it will be fine.

The lashes when it has dried are left flexible and do not flake. I have noticed smudging under my left eye below the lashes, but this does not happen every time as it's fine today and I have been wearing it for about 8 hours.

I haven't tried sleeping in it as I take my make-up off at night so I can't tell you if it will look as good the next morning.

I would say this is a weightless and lengthening mascara too. I can't tell yet, but let me know in the comments if you think this has thickened and nourished the roots of your lashes if you have used it.

EOTD: Not A Green Eyed Monster

Hey Sweethearts. The sunshine has been beautiful this week. I wish I could have enjoyed it more, but unfortunately I have had lots to do as well as work :( I hope you have all had fun in the sun though. In this post I am going to show you how my Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in the shade Moray looks in a few photos. I received mine in my October 2011 GlossyBox. You can find that post here :)

This eye liner is a slimline twist up smudge stick. I found that I had to push up against the bottom to get it twist so try this if you had trouble with it after receiving it in your October 2011 GlossyBox as I previously thought I may have to throw it away after a couple of applications. I really like that the stick itself is the same shade as the product inside. I have many make-up products at home so it would be handy as a quick reference to see what other products are at a glance just by the shade of the packaging. The shade itself is beautiful. I have nothing else like it in my eye liner collection. It glides on easily leaving a subtle placement of definition while adding a hint of shimmer. This eye liner lasted all day too without fading or smudging.

For this look I applied my Benefit High Brow all over the eyelid and up to the brow bone. I then sketched the eye liner around my top and bottom lash lines, joining them into a subtle wing. I left the inner part of the eye free of eye liner. I smudged the eye liner ever so slightly with a cotton bud to add to that sexy smoke look. The mascara I used is Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Volume & Length Mascara (Black) which was previously sent to me for free and I reviewed here. I also applied MUA Eye Liner in Snow White to the waterline.

Here is a link to the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Moray, Link :) which is available at £13.00 for 0.3ml.

Did you receive this product in you GlossyBox? Were you happy with it?

EOTD: Double Duty

Hey Beauties. I hope you are all doing really well. I had a little go at trying out one of the shades from my Front Cover Cosmetics Micro Rainbow Eyes Palette and these are the results.

This palette contains 9 domed baked powders, an eye shadow applicator, a shadow liner and a gold sleeve. The idea is that you can either use the powders as eye shadows or use the shadow liner to wet the powder and apply as a liquid eyeliner. I think this compact is so cute. It's a nice size, has a range of colours and a good sized mirror. My friend bought me this set for my birthday this year. You can find that post here. I believe my friend would have picked this up around Xmas time as my birthday is in January so unfortunately I think you will no longer find this product in Boots Pharmacy, boots.com or frontcovercosmetics.com. I have however found a few on Ebay, Link :)

On the left is the shadow liner that came with this palette and on the right is a product from Eyeko named Magic Liquid Eyeliner. This Eyeko product basically does the same thing with any eye shadow. Eyeko no longer appear to sell this product on their website, but you can find it at asos.com, Link :) and cherryculture.com, Link :)

Shadow Liner Applicators As Above

Swatches using the bottom far left purple shade of the palette, as in my EOTD photos. Left: swatched as an eye shadow, Centre: swatched with the Front Cover Cosmetics Shadow Liner & Right: swatched with the Eyeko Magic Eyeliner

This colour is very buildable as an eye shadow. I think the Front Cover Cosmetics shadow liner does a good job in transforming the shadow into a liner, but I think the Eyeko Magic Liquid Eyeliner makes the shadow appear slightly more pigmented. I rubbed my finger over the liner swatches when they had dried and neither of them budged. My eyeliner stayed put all day. I think the idea behind these products is impressive. If you want a certain type of colour eyeliner for a look, but you know you wouldn't wear it as often as say black or brown then just convert your eye shadow. I wouldn't expect the same kind of pigmentation you get from your typical liquid eyeliner though. You need to to keep building the product up to get the desired effect. I would suggest to wipe your liner applicator before you dip it back into it's container each time as you will be changing between colours.

I would definitely say to give either of these products a try. I think they are great value and will save you taking extra products out with you, especially if you tend to travel a lot.

Have you found any products that have a multi-purpose I should know about? Do you think these shadow liners are something you would like to try?

FOTD/EOTD: Pink Eye

Hey there loves. Today I have a FOTD/EOTD post for you. I wanted to go for a really bold eye look in a non-classic shape.

To create this look on the eyes I made the pink eye shape using Primark Band Of Bold Fat Metallic Eye Pencil (Shock Pink). This is a hot pink shimmer crayon. This was a great base for my eye shadow.

Over the top of this I applied GOSH Eye Shadow (281) with a flat brush so that I could keep in line with the angular, banded shape I had already created with the eye pencil. I bought mine a long time ago from Superdrug, but I can not find it on the website so I'm not sure if it's still available. Any hot pink shade you have will be fine to use though. This eye shadow is very matte and highly pigmented.

I also used a product that StarGazer sent to me for free, but not to review. This is the StarGazer Bronzer (Bronceador). I used it for this look so here are my thoughts anyway. This product has a subtle shimmer to it, but I do not find it to shimmery on my skin at all as it's very subtle. I can't be sure, but as the packaging looks the same I think this is actually Blusher Shade 1 or 2 under the eyes category on the website. If it is then this product retails at £3.50. Here is the link :)

Here are swatches of these products.

Left To Right: StarGazer Bronzer (Bronceador or possibly Blusher 1 or 2), GOSH Eye Shadow (281), Primark Band Of Bold Fat Metallic Eye Pencil (Shock Pink)

I think the Primark Eye Pencil would also be a fantastic shade on the lips and the GOSH Eye Shadow a great blush.

Other products used in this FOTD/EOTD are:

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer (Dewy Finish)

A Mix Of 1/2 E.L.F. Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 (Ivory) & 1/2 E.L.F. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation SPF 15 Oil Free (Sand)

E.L.F. Studio Complete Coverage Concealer (Light)

Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light)

E.L.F. Studio Translucent Matte Powder

E.L.F. Eyelid Primer (Sheer)

MUA Eye Shadow (Shade 2 Pearl)

 MUA Eye Liner (Snow White)

17 Clear Definition Mascara

Jane Iredale Purelash Extender & Conditioner

Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Volume & Length Mascara (Black)*

E.L.F. Studio Makeup Mist & Set

I like mixing the E.L.F. Tinted Moisturiser and Foundation together as the Tinted Moisturiser is too light in colour and coverage for me. The Foundation is just a little dark and although I like the texture it is very dewy, almost too much. The Tinted Moisturiser helps tone this down a little.

*I have reviewed this mascara that was previously sent to me for free, Link :)

So that's the look. It's very simple, fun and just something different form the usual eye shape I would normally go for. I think this would be great for a party or a club.

Have you tried any fun looks with your make-up lately? Link me up in the comments below.

Love to you all
