FOTD/EOTD: Pink Eye

Hey there loves. Today I have a FOTD/EOTD post for you. I wanted to go for a really bold eye look in a non-classic shape.

To create this look on the eyes I made the pink eye shape using Primark Band Of Bold Fat Metallic Eye Pencil (Shock Pink). This is a hot pink shimmer crayon. This was a great base for my eye shadow.

Over the top of this I applied GOSH Eye Shadow (281) with a flat brush so that I could keep in line with the angular, banded shape I had already created with the eye pencil. I bought mine a long time ago from Superdrug, but I can not find it on the website so I'm not sure if it's still available. Any hot pink shade you have will be fine to use though. This eye shadow is very matte and highly pigmented.

I also used a product that StarGazer sent to me for free, but not to review. This is the StarGazer Bronzer (Bronceador). I used it for this look so here are my thoughts anyway. This product has a subtle shimmer to it, but I do not find it to shimmery on my skin at all as it's very subtle. I can't be sure, but as the packaging looks the same I think this is actually Blusher Shade 1 or 2 under the eyes category on the website. If it is then this product retails at £3.50. Here is the link :)

Here are swatches of these products.

Left To Right: StarGazer Bronzer (Bronceador or possibly Blusher 1 or 2), GOSH Eye Shadow (281), Primark Band Of Bold Fat Metallic Eye Pencil (Shock Pink)

I think the Primark Eye Pencil would also be a fantastic shade on the lips and the GOSH Eye Shadow a great blush.

Other products used in this FOTD/EOTD are:

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer (Dewy Finish)

A Mix Of 1/2 E.L.F. Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 (Ivory) & 1/2 E.L.F. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation SPF 15 Oil Free (Sand)

E.L.F. Studio Complete Coverage Concealer (Light)

Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light)

E.L.F. Studio Translucent Matte Powder

E.L.F. Eyelid Primer (Sheer)

MUA Eye Shadow (Shade 2 Pearl)

 MUA Eye Liner (Snow White)

17 Clear Definition Mascara

Jane Iredale Purelash Extender & Conditioner

Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Volume & Length Mascara (Black)*

E.L.F. Studio Makeup Mist & Set

I like mixing the E.L.F. Tinted Moisturiser and Foundation together as the Tinted Moisturiser is too light in colour and coverage for me. The Foundation is just a little dark and although I like the texture it is very dewy, almost too much. The Tinted Moisturiser helps tone this down a little.

*I have reviewed this mascara that was previously sent to me for free, Link :)

So that's the look. It's very simple, fun and just something different form the usual eye shape I would normally go for. I think this would be great for a party or a club.

Have you tried any fun looks with your make-up lately? Link me up in the comments below.

Love to you all

January 2012 GlossyBox: Valentine's Day Edition

Hello Sweetie Pies. How bad will the snow be that is coming? I'm sure everyone is talking about this today. I'm part excited as I think it looks so pretty and part unhappy as it's just hassle when you need to get about. I will be window watching later I'm sure.

Now on to the post for today. I am going to show you the products that came with my January GlossyBox. This box is called the 'Valentine's Day Edition'.

I love, love, love this hot pink GlossyBox. I would love it if this was the permanent colour.

The pink heart replacing the usual GlossyBox sticker is so cute.

Yes I did take these pictures with the print in the lid upside down, doh!

All the products.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner (Midnight Blue), Link :)

The Information:

Eyeko SKINNY EYELINER Pencils for precise definition and intense colour. Line and define for long-lasting colour. The wax based, creamy formula allows for smooth application. Even when you sharpen the pencil to the smallest nub the silver handle remains for longer use.

Application:

Use light strokes close to the lash line for everyday definition. Hold pencil on its side for thicker lines and a dramatic look. Smoke-out the shade by using a brush or Q-tip to blend and soften the line for an effortlessly glamorous look.

Ingredients:

Ricinus Communis Oil, Microcrystalline Wax, Paraffin, Petrolatum, 2-Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Lanolin, BHT, Propylparaben, Mica. MAYCONTAIN: C177891 (Titanium Dioxide), C177499 (Iron Oxides), C177007 (Ultramarine), C177510 (Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide), C177288 (Chromium Oxide Green), C119140 (FD&C Yellow 5), C116035 (FD&C Red 40), C142092 (FD&C Blue 1).

This eyeliner is very smooth and intensely dark. It's nice to have a dark blue shade rather than the usual black. I thought the very long handle was a bit strange at first glance, but as described in the information above it is meant to be there so that sharpening becomes easier when you near the end of the pencil. This retails at £9.50 which I think is a bit pricey. I am looking forward to trying out this shade though. I think the blue will make my eyes look a bit whiter and brighter.

Left: Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream, Link :) & Right: Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream, Link :)

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream

The Information:

A firming day cream that contains revitalising White Tea and Succory Dock-Cress, clinically-proven to help visibly reduce the signs of ageing lifting, toning and smoothing the skin for noticeable results. Infusing skin with firming benefits that are immediate and long-lasting. Day after day, skin appears younger as facial contours are tightened and look more defined. Lines and wrinkles are noticeably minimised.

Application:

The GlossyBox website directs you to apply this every night to a thoroughly cleansed face and neck, but as this is the day cream I guess you would do this in the day.

Ingredients:

Stimulen: ensures protection for immune cells and enhances skin renewal. Euglena, Hop: energise and firm. Soft Wheat proteins: immediate 'lift' effect. Clarins new Anti-Pollution Complex (White Tea, Succory DockCress, Glycofilm): protects against free radicals and the harmful effects of the environment.

This has a pleasant scent and appears to be a nice cream. It feels quite cooling when I tried it on my hand too. This says it retails at £46.00 on the GlossyBox website for 50ml, but it says £46.50 on the information leaflet? I am looking forward to trying this, but the price does put me off buying it in the future. I will give it a go though.

Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream

The Information:

Clarins’ intensive night-time skin renewal complex including soothing Rosemary, firming Alfalfa and revitalising Glistin “lifts” and tones while you sleep for a firmer, more luminous complexion upon waking. Complements the action of Extra-Firming Day Cream smoothing lines and wrinkles, defining facial contours and promoting noticeably younger-looking skin.

Application:

Apply every night to thoroughly cleansed face and neck.

Ingredients:

Glistin: helps maintain the skin's nerve endings, youthful properties, regulates skin's functions and enhances cellular renewal. Alfalfa: firms, repairs and enhances collagen synthesis. Rosemary: soothes and relaxes features. Silicon and Vitamin E: protects against free radicals and helps collagen fibres maintain their supple aspect.

I tried this last night and it feels nice on the skin. It also has a pleasant scent. This retails at £48.00 for 50ml. Although this feels like a nice cream I'm not sure if I would buy this in the future because of the price.

Fab Body Moisturizer, Link :)

The Information:

Formulated with ingredients to nourish and restore, it will improve skin barrier function and locks in moisture after bathing. Allergy-tested, fragrance free, dermatologist recommended and contains no harsh chemicals. Safe for sensitive skin.

Application:

I would suggest using body moisturiser at least once a day after each bath/shower.

Ingredients:

FAB Antioxidant Booster, a powerful blend of botanical antioxidants to combat free radicals and protect the against photo aging. Dimethicone protects skin. Shea Butter nourishes and moisturises. Colloidal Oatmeal soothes and heals rough, dry skin.

On my information leaflet that came with my GlossyBox there was information about the Fab Gentle Body Wash and not this product? When I looked on the GlossyBox website the information about the Fab Body Moisturizer told information about the face moisturizer instead? I can't really smell any scent with this product, but that's probably because it's safe for sensitive skin. This retails at £13.00 for 226.8g on the Boots website.

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish, Link :)

The Information:

Oil-free, pore minimising formula creates the perfect canvas by concealing flaws, evening skin tone and can be used under or in place of foundation. One universal shade creates the perfect skin tone match.

Application:

May be used every day after moisturising. Blend evenly over face and neck. Wear under or in place of foundation for a fresh look.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Isohexadecane, Silica, Boron Nitride, Stearyl Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Seed Extract, Capryloyl Glycine, Sarcosine, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Extract, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Chitosan, Propyl Gallate, Polyurethane-40, Zinc Gluconate, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

When I swatched this I was so surprised that this has a tint to it. Usually face primers are white or very, very pale shades. As you can see from the blended out swatch above though it does blend out nicely giving a dewy glow as it describes. I am looking forward to trying this. It dispenses out with a pump. This retails at £29.00 for 30ml which sounds a lot, but I am intrigued to see how this looks.

So that's it folks. Overall I am really happy with my January GlossyBox. The pink box itself had me excited from the moment of opening. I will definitely use all of the products. The only one that I am not excited about is the Fab Body Moisturizer, but it will get used.

It's a shame about the confusion with the product information on the information card and the website, but I got there in the end.

If you want information on subscribing to GlossyBox please check out this Link :)

Which products did you receive in your January GlossyBox? Were you happy with them?

Love to you all

December Empties

Hi there everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the new year. I am still on leave, but will be returning to work on Monday :( Today I wanted to show you the products that I have used up in December and what I thought of them so I will get started.

Face

Left To Right: Simple Kind To Skin Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser, Link :), Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser, Link :), No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum, Caudalie Vinexpert Radiance Day Fluid SPF10, Link :)

Simple Kind To Skin Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser ~ I purchased mine in Superdrug, but I can't find it on the website to tell you the price, sorry :(

The Information:

This Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser is a perfect blend of ingredients to visibly help reduce the size of pores. Helps to leave the skin feeling refreshed and clarified. Perfect for even sensitive skin. The special blend of Simple toning goodness containing Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Chamomile, Geranium and Witch Hazel, helps to keep your skin toned, clarified and refreshed.

NO PERFUME, NO COLOUR, NO UNNECESSARY INGREDIENTS so it won't upset your skin. Dermatologically Tested and Approved.

This product does not feel at all harsh on the skin. It has a smooth formula. I do want to try another cleanser though as I do end up using more cotton wool pads to removed dirt and grime from my face and neck than I would like. I have not noticed any pore minimising.

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser ~ £5.50 for 30ml

The Information:

Now you can fight two stubborn skin concerns at the same time with the first patented time-release Anti-Ageing Blemish regime clinically proven to reduce blemishes while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. This high-performance solution includes an innovative anti-blemish treatment technology that continues to work even after you rinse it off. Breakouts and wrinkles won’t stand a chance! Additional features and ingredients: Multi-active blemish fighting system, featuring encapsulated Salicylic Acid technology, provides a sustained release that continues to treat blemishes, even after rinsing. Amino acids and Hyaluronic Acid bind moisture to skin while antioxidants neutralize free radicals to preserve a more youthful appearance.

Application:

Massage a small amount over dampened face and neck. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

I received this product in my August GlossyBox. I tend to use my face washes while I am in the shower. This product does feel quite refreshing when you use it, but I don't have much more to say about it than that I'm afraid.

No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum ~ The Boots Pharmacy website is currently unavailable, but this product is usually around £20.00 for the tube

I started using this product years ago and fell in love with it straight away as the frown lines on my forehead pretty much disappeared. Recently though I have noticed more wrinkles and fine lines appearing on my face. I know it's a part of the ageing process, but as this product is not working as well for me I am looking for something to help smooth out those fine lines. I am tempted by the fairly new product on the market Nanoblur, but I am waiting to see more reviews on this. Have you tried Nanoblur or a similar product? Any good or bad? I am interested in anti-wrinkle/anti-ageing creams too :)

Caudalie Vinexpert Radiance Day Fluid SPF10 ~ Currently at reduced priced on feelunique.com of £27.55 for 30ml

The Information:

This energising fluid with SPF10 offers complete firming, protective and anti-wrinkle action along with optimum moisture to ensure a glowing complexion all day long.Main ingredients: anti-ageing grapevine Resveratrol anti-oxidant grapevine polyphenols(OPC), strengthening and moisturising Vinolevure, coppery pearlizers and light-reflecting pigments for an instant healthy glow, toning ginseng, nourishing and moisturising cassia angustifolia, sodium hyaluronate, shea butter, olive squalane and pea, soothing pro-vitamin B5 and camomile, encapuslated sun filter, energising cypress, basil, mint, galbanum, mandarin and ylang-ylang.

I received this product in my October Feelunique Beauty Box. This does feel like a nice cream, but it has not done anything spectacular to my skin. Even for the reduced price I think I can find something far more affordable.

Face/Make-up

Left To Right: Accessorize With-Love Primer, Link :), Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light), Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara, Link :)

Accessorize With-Love Primer ~ £9.00 for 30ml

The Information:

Helps to even out skin tone while reducing shine. Improves foundation application and helps minimise skin imperfections. Make-up lasts longer and skin is left feeling velvety smooth all day.

This product does feel velvety smooth on the skin. Prior to this I was using Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I would much rather use this product as it's much more affordable and my make-up looks exactly the same. My one con for this product is that the hole it dispenses from is quite large so you may waste more product. Just be careful when you squeeze it out. I love the pretty design of the tube too.

Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light) ~ Not sure on price as not shown on Primark's website. I bought this at a reduced price of a about £2.00 over a year ago.

This concealer brush pen has lasted me absolutely ages. I think it's great value as it works just as well under my eyes as the YSL Touche Eclat and the Clarins concealer pens ever did. You just click the button at the end of the pen to dispense the product and brush on.

Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara ~ £11.80

The Information:

Create an intense and mysterious look with the Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara. A must have for the woman who wants to get noticed, this intense black mascara is the perfect addition to your collection. Specially formulated to deliver long, sultry lashes, Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara is the only mascara a woman needs when she wants high-performance, luscious lashes. After one stroke of the brush, lashes are instantly thicker, longer, and with a false lash effect. Like little ball bearings, the spherical particles attract the formula and then become encapsulated with product. Due to the size and shape of these particles, they line up on the lash giving the effect of added volume.

Application:

For maximum effect begin at the lash root and brush up with a slight wiggle back and forth.

I received this product in my August GlossyBox and I have to say I really don't like it. The big brush did not assist with maximising my lashes. It does not deliver any type of false lash effect. Not enough product comes out. My lashes were not lengthened, volumised or thickened. My eyes water a lot and although this does not claim to be a waterproof mascara this stuff ran all around my eye area the first time I used it. My eyes are very sensitive, especially on a windy day, but I have never experienced anything like this before. I would not recommend this product!

This lotion smells gorgeous. It's so fresh and juicy. I actually got this free as I received a Joy Card. I think I got it with Glamour Magazine. I took the card into The Body Shop and they told me the card was worth £3.00 so I got this lotion for free :) I would use this product again. The scent is fab and the cream is nice too.

Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Indulgent Hand & Body Lotion ~ £9.00 for 225ml

I love this herbal scent. It's very autumnal as is the pacjkaging. This lotion feels lovely and sinks straight into the skin. I love the touch of the little leaf attached to the bottle. Unfortunately the pump stopped working for me about half way through using this. I would definitely recommedn this product.

Please excuse me writing on this product, but that was to remind me that THIS PRODUCT WAS SENT TO ME FOR REVIEW PURPOSES, BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN!

Di Palomo White Grape With Aloe Bath & Shower Cream ~ £9.00 for 250ml

This product feels so fresh and clean. I like the pump idea again. It's much easier to use in the shower. I lost the wee leaf that was attached to this :( I like the feeling of this cream on my skin. I would use this product in the future.

THIS PRODUCT WAS SENT TO ME FOR REVIEW PURPOSES, BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN!

Avon Barbie Bubble-icious! Body Wash ~ I can no longer find this on the Avon website, sorry :(

This is not a fantastic body wash in scent, but I just got a kick out of it because of the packaging. It was fun to use just for that.

Hand/Nail/Perfume

Left To Right: Di Palomo Enriching White Grape With Aloe Hand & Nail Cream, Link :), Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Enriching Hand & Nail Cream, Link :), Etro Ambra Fragrance, Link :)

This obviuosly has the same scent as the Di Palomo White Grape With Aloe Bath & Shower Cream above. This cream feels smooth and sinks nicley into the skin. I would reccommend this, especially if you travel a lot as this smaller size is handy.

THIS PRODUCT WAS SENT TO ME FOR REVIEW PURPOSES, BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN!

THIS PRODUCT WAS SENT TO ME FOR REVIEW PURPOSES, BUT ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN!

Etro Ambra Fragrance

  • Primark Ta Ta For Now Magic Undereye Concealer (Light)
  • The Body Shop Satsuma Puree Body Lotion
  • Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Indulgent Hand & Body Lotion
  • Di Palomo White Grape With Aloe Bath & Shower Cream
  • Di Palomo Enriching White Grape With Aloe Hand & Nail Cream
  • Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Enriching Hand & Nail Cream

So that's all folks. What products have you been loving or loathing in December?

Love to you all

August GlossyBox

Hey Gals. Other than a little make-up shopping I haven't been up to much this weekend. I hope you are all having fun though. Today I want to share with you what I received in my August GlossyBox. So here goes.

First up is the Murad Time Release Blemish Cleanser which it says on their website is a new product. This retails at £29.00 for 200ml. The tube that I received however say Time Release Acne Cleanser. I assume that this is still the same product. I would have thought that it's the same product, but with a slightly different name now, but as it's meant to be new I'm a little confused? It is meant to be an extra gentle cleanser which is clinically proven to increase cell turnover, reduce blemishes and diminish wrinkles, minimising the signs of ageing while keeping your skin smooth, supple and glowing.

I will definitely try this as I am always looking to improve my skins condition. I don't get a lot of spots. Usually I only get one or two around that time of month, but if it helps with anti-ageing and keeping my skin supple and smooth then that's a good thing. I think it's the first product I have seen that is aimed at people with slightly more mature skin that still have blemish irritations. It saves on using two products I guess.

Now we have the Ahava Mineral Body Lotion which usually retails at £22.00 for 250ml, but is currently on sale until 31st August 2011 for £19.80. It is said to be a richly moisturising lotion that absorbs into the skin quickly, effectively hydrating, nourishing and protecting the skin. The website says to apply it every morning. I suppose they are saying that it needs to only be applied once a day, but I am a twice a day girl when it comes to moisturising as I shower twice a day. I will give this a go too as I am always looking to find the best body lotions for my oh so dry skin.

Here we have the Jumbo Jet Mascara from Daniel Sandler. It claims to be the only mascara a woman needs when she wants high-performance, luscious lashes. That's a pretty big claim in my book. It also says that after one stroke of the brush lashes CAN appear thicker and longer. I don't want a CAN, I want a WILL please. When looking at Daniel Sandler Cosmetics on GlossyBox's website you have to go the link saying buy to find out where to buy his products. The page is a little all over the place so I almost missed this link. There were quite a few places to buy from, but I chose feelunique.com to take a look as I have ordered from them before and it retails there at £11.80 reduced from £14.75 for 15ml with free delivery. On feelunique.com it also says it will give a false lash effect.

I tried this mascara yesterday and I have to say I wasn't overly impressed. One coat was not enough for me. I had to apply three to get somewhere near the consistency I like to get from a mascara. I would not pay £11.80 for this mascara let alone £14.75. The tube and brush look really big and so I was maybe too hopeful in expecting big lashes. They didn't seperate nicely and I found that the amount that came out onto the brush was a very thin amount. My lashes looked a little bitty. By that I mean they didn't fan into a nice shape they stuck together in some areas and had some small clumps which looked about to flake off. I took a bus ride straight after application and by the time I got off the bus my eyes looked black underneath where my watery eyes had made it run. I know it does not claim to be a waterproof mascara, but if you have watery eyes like me or have hay fever AVOID or do not apply to lower lashes. As you can probably tell I would not recommend this product.

The website for KMS California says coming soon so I'm not sure how much this retails at? Here is the information about it though. This is the KMS California Colorvitality Shine & Shield. It says this is a light-weight smoothing creme that fights frizz and provides heat protection while promoting natural movement and shine. It is infused with lilac and ginger, plus antioxidants, UV filter and IOPS technology for colour protection and condition. I have no idea what IOPS technology is, sorry? I have a friend that colours her hair a lot so I think I will give this to her to try.

These Rebel Nails Nail Wraps in the style of Cream/Green Giraffe retail at £7.99. They claim to be easy to apply with no chipping, fading or wear. They are meant to give an amazing professional finish with a self adhesive flexible covering. They can be used on natural, acrylic or gel nails. These come in various designs for both finger and toe nails. Unfortunately these are for toes. I won't gross you out, but I do not have a full size toe nail on my left foot. I had an ingrown toe nail many years ago which I had minor surgery on, but it never grows fully. I have tried applying false toe nails before, but I always catch it as my toe nail is not flat and it's just way too painful to risk so I will be passing these on to one of my friends.

I have only used nail wraps once on my fingers. They were not this brand, but I have to say I hated them. They were a pain to cut to the correct size and they started peeling away at the edges after a day or two. These are not something that I would buy again. I couldn't wait to get them off.

I will be happy to try out the cleanser and body lotion from this box, but overall I would say this is my least favourite of the GlossyBox's so far. I believe that next month they will be upping the price as they will be adding a delivery charge. It's a little annoying as other beauty boxes are not doing this, but I will continue my GlossyBox subscription for now as I like the surprises.

What did you receive in your GlossyBox? Did you like what you got? Will you be continuing with your subscription with the added delivery charges?

Love to you all
