E.L.F. Concealer & Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream Reviews

Hi there people. I have been so lazy today getting in and out of bed. I don't know what's up with me I just feel wiped out. Anyway I hope your weekends are going well. Today I have two product reviews for you from E.L.F. and Clarins.

Top: E.L.F. Studio Concealer Ivory, £3.75

I used this concealer straight from the tube to swipe underneath my eyes and on the blemished areas of my face. This went on really smoothly as it's a creamy formula, but it not at all slippery as it dries slightly more matte on the skin once applied. It does give you time to blend with either your fingers or a brush. I usually went with using my fingers as the warmth from my fingertips helps to set it in nicely. I used a slight patting motion. The colour match for my skin is really good. I would certainly recommend this for paler skin tones. I really enjoyed using this product as it worked as good as higher end concealers I have tried and is great value because it lasts for ages. I would say that this lasted about 3-4 months. Because it can be applied using your fingers it is travel friendly too so no need to carry a make-up brush around. The packaging looks slightly different on the website now as their is no concealer shade around the middle, but I believe the product to be the same. I would definitely repurchase this product. This comes in three other shades of beige, honey and tan.

Bottom: Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream, £16.99 for 100ml with free delivery

I think I got this free sample when I purchased something else from Clarins. This product is said to work towards minimising age spots, softening the skin and strengthening the nails. I don't have age spots on my hands so I can't say how it works in that way and my nails are usually pretty strong anyway so for me this product was really just used to see how it cared for the skin on my hands. The scent of this white cream is quite pure and delicate. I have to say that this was a really nice hand cream to use. The cream was not sticky or greasy. It left a smooth layer over my hands and did actually make them feel softer with continued use. I would say that if this product does work for age spots then yes I would pay this price in the future if I get them on my hands, but for now this is a product that is a bit too expensive for me to use just as a hand cream.

Have you discovered any great products from E.L.F. or Clarins recently? What are your favourite concealers and hand creams? Let me know with your reasons in the comments below.

Love to you all

March 2012 GlossyBox: The Harrods Edition

Hey Everyone. I hope your week has been going well. I have had a headache since Monday so I am burning a candle in the hope it will relax me, ha ha :) I am going to show you today the products I received in my March GlossyBox: The Harrods Edition.

The Box Itself With A Beauty Booklet

I Love The Harrods Ribbon Detailing

Inside The Box

Left To Right: Fendi Fan Di Fendi Eau De Toilette, Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum & Erno Laszlo The Hollywood Collection: 5 Piece Cream Gift Set

Fendi Fan Di Fendi Eau De Toilette ~ £35.00 For 30ml, £50.00 For 50ml Or £60.00 For 75ml, Link :)

The Information:

  • Fan di FENDI Eau de Toilette radiates with sunlight. The famous Forever buckle from the Baguette bag, has changed from black to shiny white gold. The cap, a subtle reminder of the Peekaboo bag clasp has changed from black to shiny white ivory. The fragrance is vibrant and lively, leaving a lasting impression of light, addictive Roman leather on the skin.

  • Top Notes: tangerine, pear-blackcurrant and pink peppercorn
  • Middle Notes: damascena Rose and Yellow Jasmine
  • Base Notes: soft Leather and patchouli

My Thoughts:

I find the description 'leaving a lasting impression of light, addictive Roman leather on the skin' a little strange. I do actually quite like the scent though. I would describe it as a sexy, warm summer fragrance. The bottle looks very sophisticated too.

Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum ~ £16.00, Link :)

The Information:

  • This highly concentrated multi-tasking serum from Ojon is fortified with nature's hair-repairing golden elixir plus exotic Rouge Oleifera to penetrate the hair shaft, helping to strengthen weak hair, fix flyaways and tame frizz. The weightless formula restores brilliant shine, whilst adding suppleness and manageability to dull, damaged hair.
  • Restorative hair serum
  • Tames fizz and flyaways

Application:

Warm one to two drops in palms of hands and apply to damp or dry hair concentrating on the ends. Use daily before heat styling or as a finishing touch.

My Thoughts:

This sounds like a nice enough hair serum, but we seem to get so many hair products that I'm a bit bored of them now.

My Thoughts:

I like that their are a collection of samples here. I could not find this collection on the Harrods website I'm afraid, but on the ernolaszlo.com website the prices of the individual products are $175.00 for 1.7oz of Velvet Night Cream, $85.00 for 0.5oz of Instant Eye Repair, $125.00 for 1.7oz of Refresh Moisture Infusion, $140.00 for 1.7oz of Intensive Porcelain Veil and $95.00 for 1.7oz of Morning Beauty Rescue. I am looking forward to trying these products, but I hope I don't like them that much because they are so pricey. I like the sleek look of the packaging though.

My Thoughts:

The packaging of this lipstick feels expensive. This is a really nice grown up shade. I would describe it as a brown rose colour. It has a nice sheen to it and is a smooth formula.

Clarins Extra-Firming Body Cream ~ £39.50 For 200ml, Link :)

The Information:

My Thoughts:

This feels like a very smooth cream with a clean, fresh scent. It's still more than I would usually pay for a body cream.

So overall I do like this month's GlossyBox. I am not too bothered about the hair serum, but I like the other products so far. This box does feel quite sophisticated and a bit more expensive. I am not sure why the information card in this month's GlossyBox does not have the prices of the products? It feels a bit like when you go into a shop and there are no prices on the products so you know you can't afford them, ha ha ;) Apologies for the text in this post and the white background through part of it as Blogger is not letting me amend this :(

What products did you receive in your GlossyBox this month? Were you happy with the products?

Love to you all

January 2012 GlossyBox: Valentine's Day Edition

Hello Sweetie Pies. How bad will the snow be that is coming? I'm sure everyone is talking about this today. I'm part excited as I think it looks so pretty and part unhappy as it's just hassle when you need to get about. I will be window watching later I'm sure.

Now on to the post for today. I am going to show you the products that came with my January GlossyBox. This box is called the 'Valentine's Day Edition'.

I love, love, love this hot pink GlossyBox. I would love it if this was the permanent colour.

The pink heart replacing the usual GlossyBox sticker is so cute.

Yes I did take these pictures with the print in the lid upside down, doh!

All the products.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner (Midnight Blue), Link :)

The Information:

Eyeko SKINNY EYELINER Pencils for precise definition and intense colour. Line and define for long-lasting colour. The wax based, creamy formula allows for smooth application. Even when you sharpen the pencil to the smallest nub the silver handle remains for longer use.

Application:

Use light strokes close to the lash line for everyday definition. Hold pencil on its side for thicker lines and a dramatic look. Smoke-out the shade by using a brush or Q-tip to blend and soften the line for an effortlessly glamorous look.

Ingredients:

Ricinus Communis Oil, Microcrystalline Wax, Paraffin, Petrolatum, 2-Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Lanolin, BHT, Propylparaben, Mica. MAYCONTAIN: C177891 (Titanium Dioxide), C177499 (Iron Oxides), C177007 (Ultramarine), C177510 (Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide), C177288 (Chromium Oxide Green), C119140 (FD&C Yellow 5), C116035 (FD&C Red 40), C142092 (FD&C Blue 1).

This eyeliner is very smooth and intensely dark. It's nice to have a dark blue shade rather than the usual black. I thought the very long handle was a bit strange at first glance, but as described in the information above it is meant to be there so that sharpening becomes easier when you near the end of the pencil. This retails at £9.50 which I think is a bit pricey. I am looking forward to trying out this shade though. I think the blue will make my eyes look a bit whiter and brighter.

Left: Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream, Link :) & Right: Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream, Link :)

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream

The Information:

A firming day cream that contains revitalising White Tea and Succory Dock-Cress, clinically-proven to help visibly reduce the signs of ageing lifting, toning and smoothing the skin for noticeable results. Infusing skin with firming benefits that are immediate and long-lasting. Day after day, skin appears younger as facial contours are tightened and look more defined. Lines and wrinkles are noticeably minimised.

Application:

The GlossyBox website directs you to apply this every night to a thoroughly cleansed face and neck, but as this is the day cream I guess you would do this in the day.

Ingredients:

Stimulen: ensures protection for immune cells and enhances skin renewal. Euglena, Hop: energise and firm. Soft Wheat proteins: immediate 'lift' effect. Clarins new Anti-Pollution Complex (White Tea, Succory DockCress, Glycofilm): protects against free radicals and the harmful effects of the environment.

This has a pleasant scent and appears to be a nice cream. It feels quite cooling when I tried it on my hand too. This says it retails at £46.00 on the GlossyBox website for 50ml, but it says £46.50 on the information leaflet? I am looking forward to trying this, but the price does put me off buying it in the future. I will give it a go though.

Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream

The Information:

Clarins’ intensive night-time skin renewal complex including soothing Rosemary, firming Alfalfa and revitalising Glistin “lifts” and tones while you sleep for a firmer, more luminous complexion upon waking. Complements the action of Extra-Firming Day Cream smoothing lines and wrinkles, defining facial contours and promoting noticeably younger-looking skin.

Application:

Apply every night to thoroughly cleansed face and neck.

Ingredients:

Glistin: helps maintain the skin's nerve endings, youthful properties, regulates skin's functions and enhances cellular renewal. Alfalfa: firms, repairs and enhances collagen synthesis. Rosemary: soothes and relaxes features. Silicon and Vitamin E: protects against free radicals and helps collagen fibres maintain their supple aspect.

I tried this last night and it feels nice on the skin. It also has a pleasant scent. This retails at £48.00 for 50ml. Although this feels like a nice cream I'm not sure if I would buy this in the future because of the price.

Fab Body Moisturizer, Link :)

The Information:

Formulated with ingredients to nourish and restore, it will improve skin barrier function and locks in moisture after bathing. Allergy-tested, fragrance free, dermatologist recommended and contains no harsh chemicals. Safe for sensitive skin.

Application:

I would suggest using body moisturiser at least once a day after each bath/shower.

Ingredients:

FAB Antioxidant Booster, a powerful blend of botanical antioxidants to combat free radicals and protect the against photo aging. Dimethicone protects skin. Shea Butter nourishes and moisturises. Colloidal Oatmeal soothes and heals rough, dry skin.

On my information leaflet that came with my GlossyBox there was information about the Fab Gentle Body Wash and not this product? When I looked on the GlossyBox website the information about the Fab Body Moisturizer told information about the face moisturizer instead? I can't really smell any scent with this product, but that's probably because it's safe for sensitive skin. This retails at £13.00 for 226.8g on the Boots website.

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish, Link :)

The Information:

Oil-free, pore minimising formula creates the perfect canvas by concealing flaws, evening skin tone and can be used under or in place of foundation. One universal shade creates the perfect skin tone match.

Application:

May be used every day after moisturising. Blend evenly over face and neck. Wear under or in place of foundation for a fresh look.

Ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Isohexadecane, Silica, Boron Nitride, Stearyl Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Seed Extract, Capryloyl Glycine, Sarcosine, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Extract, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Chitosan, Propyl Gallate, Polyurethane-40, Zinc Gluconate, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

When I swatched this I was so surprised that this has a tint to it. Usually face primers are white or very, very pale shades. As you can see from the blended out swatch above though it does blend out nicely giving a dewy glow as it describes. I am looking forward to trying this. It dispenses out with a pump. This retails at £29.00 for 30ml which sounds a lot, but I am intrigued to see how this looks.

So that's it folks. Overall I am really happy with my January GlossyBox. The pink box itself had me excited from the moment of opening. I will definitely use all of the products. The only one that I am not excited about is the Fab Body Moisturizer, but it will get used.

It's a shame about the confusion with the product information on the information card and the website, but I got there in the end.

If you want information on subscribing to GlossyBox please check out this Link :)

September Empties

Hi again everyone. I have seen this idea on another blog before and I thought it was fab. I can't remember which one it was though, naughty Vicky :( Basically I want to share with you which products I have used up in the month of September and a brief outline of what I thought of them. So here goes.

Left to Right: No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, BIOEFFECT (EGF Serum), Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15 & L'Oreal Revitalift Anti Wrinkle and Firming Day Cream

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum

I have always liked the regular No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum, but I mistakenly picked up the Intense version on a 3 for 2 at Boots Pharmacy the last time I purchased it. I haven't noticed any difference by using this instead of the regular version so I don't think I will go for the Intense next time as it costs £1.50 more, but I would be happy to use the Intense if the regular was out of stock. I use this around my eyes, on my forehead and I have just started using it at the sides of my mouth as I have noticed a couple of very slight wrinkles forming. I used to have quite prominent frown lines years ago on my forehead and since using the regular version of this serum they have pretty much disappeared. I can not imagine never using this. Here is a link to the regular at £19.50 for 30ml and the intense at £21.00 for 30ml.

BIOEFFECT (EGF Serum)

This product came with my June GlossyBox. Please see the link for my initial review here, Link :) This was fine as a serum. The dropper bottle was okay, but I found that when applying it around my eye area it ran down my face so my fingers chased it pretty quickly due to price. I would not purchase this product as at £125 for 15ml I think it's way over priced. Here is a link to the information that GlossyBox has on it, Link :)

Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15

This product came with my September Beauty Box from feelunique.com. Please see the link of this post here, Link :) This was an okay moisturiser, but it didn't blow me away. For the price of £32.30 for 30ml I wouldn't buy it. Here is a link to it if you want to though, Link :)

L'Oreal Revitalift Anti Wrinkle and Firming Day Cream

I have been using this product for a few years and I think it's a pretty good one for my exceptionally dry skin, but I am still on the lookout for something better. This is £13.99 for 50ml. Here is a Link :)

Left to Right: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, Estée Lauder Double Wear Light in 1.0 & Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Body Lotion

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

I originally wrote a post on this product at the beginning of June. Please see the link here. I still think of this as a fantastic product, but I have started using the Accessorize With-Love Primer which retails at £9.00 as opposed to the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm which I found on feelunique.com for £21.50. Please see the links here for the With-Love Primer and the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I will let you know how I get on with the Accessorize Primer once I have used it for a while. I would definitely recommend the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a make-up primer though. Although not perfect at helping my foundation to look flawless it has definitely improved it. I have extremely dry skin though. I would definitely go back to this product.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Light in 1.0

I have been using this foundation for some time and I was happy in as much as it's the best I have tried so far and I would definitely go back to it. The trouble is that I have uneven skin with reddening and I was looking for something for heavier coverage, but I'm not sure what to look for with my dry skin? I have been trying a sample of the regular Double Wear which is okay, but I feel like it is showing up my dry skin more. I am still trying out various foundations, but if you have any recommendations for full/medium coverage for very dry skin please let me know. Here is a link to the Estée Lauder Double Wear Light which is £26.50 for 30ml.

Ahava Deadsea Mineral Body Lotion

I received this product in my August GlossyBox. Please see the link to my post here. This was an okay moisturiser. It did the job, but again it didn't blow me away. This is shown on the GlossyBox website at £22.00 for 250ml. I wouldn't pay that much for it, but here is the Link :) It is also called a Deadsea Water Body Lotion which does not sound very appealing to me.

Deadsea Spa Magik Salt Brushing - 2 sachets

Deadsea Spa Magik Salt Brushing

I received these sachets in my September GlossyBox. Please see the link to that post here. The first time I used this scrub I had just shaved my legs and as the granules are quite large this made my legs a little sore. I checked the instructions and it says to use on dry skin while standing in the shower or bath. I had been laying in the bath and so I thought it may be my fault. My skin did feel very soft after use though. I tried this product again on dry skin and I did not feel sore after use. My skin was very soft yet again, but I find the process of scrubbing my skin with such large granules really uncomfortable. I like to feel like I have scrubbed at my skin, but not to the point that it feels a displeasure. For that reason I would not purchase this product. Also the Deadsea in the name does not attract me again. This retails at £12.00 for 500g on the GlossyBox website. Please see the link here.

So that's the end my lovelies. I hope you found this helpful. What products have you been loving or hating recently? Would you buy them again?

Love to you all

Two-Tone Metallic Eyeliner

Hey there my loves. The sun is shining and I'm in a good mood. I hope you are all having a lot of fun this weekend. Today's post is about me trying out different type of eyeliner look.

I really enjoyed having something a bit more fun on my eyes for the day. Here are the products that I used:

  • E.L.F. Eyelid Primer in Sheer ~ All over the eyelid
  • MUA Eyeshadow in Shade 1 - Pearl ~ All over the eyelid
  • Clarins Eyebrow Pencil in 01 Dark Brown ~ Applied in short strokes through the eye brows
  • 17 Clear Definition Mascara ~ Brushed through the eye brows to keep them in place
  • Jane Iredale Purelash Extender & Conditioner ~ Applied to the eye lashes to condition and prime for mascara
  • Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black - Applied in two coats to the upper eye lashes with a little extra on the outer corners. One coat to bottom eye lashes
  • MUA Eye Liner in Snow White - Applied to the water line
  • Collection 2000 Glam Metallics Coloured Liquid Eyeliners in Punk 5 & Fierce 2 ~ Punk 5 applied to the upper lash line into a flick. Fierce 2 applied to the lower lash line to join the upper line

Left: Punk 5, Right: Fierce 2

Here are links to the products:

MUA Eye Liner in Snow White ~ I could not find this on the Superdrug website, but I am pretty sure you can still buy this and I think it is £1.00?

Collection 2000 Glam Metallics Coloured Liquid Eyeliners in Punk 5 & Fierce 2 ~ Unfortunately I got these in a goody bag when I attended a show prior to blogging and I can not find them on the Collection 2000 website, sorry :(

It's a real shame as they lasted for ages and really made my eyes look fun. I was very sinful and didn't take my make-up off before bed and they were still pretty much in tact in the morning. I had to use a cleanser and eye make-up remover quite thoroughly to get these off. Now that's impressive.

If you want to create a similar look you can always use what you already have or a different type of eyeliner. It doesn't have to be liquid/metallic or these exact colours. Just have some fun. Take a look at the Collection 2000 website to see if you could perhaps use the Extreme 24 hour Felt Tip Liners to attempt this type of look? I have not used them before, but here is the Link :)

Have you tried a look similar to this before? Do you have any Collection 2000 favourites?

Love to you all

Concealer Pens/Eyeko Graffitti Eyeliner Pen

Hello my lovelies. I hope you are all having a good weekend? Today I wanted to share a few pictures with you for two reasons. I bought a couple of Primark's pen concealers when they were on sale for £1 each around Christmas time. I wanted to try them when my Clarins concealer pen ran out.

Now don't quote me on this, but I think this Clarins pen is now called the 'Instant Light Brush On Perfector'. The pen is now gold too. It is priced at £24.00 which is a far step away from the £1 that I paid for Primark's. I know that the Primark ones were not full price when I purchased them, but I can't imagine them being much more than a few pounds usually.

These snaps were taken on day 1 while I was using the Clarins pen under my eyes. I believe the shade to be light beige. The pen had no number or shade on it.

Here is Primark's Ta Ta For Now concealer pen which I have in the shade Light.

These snaps are on day 2 when I used the Primark concealer pen.

Now although the Primark concealer does look darker when it comes out of the pen I honestly have not noticed any difference to the way it covers my under eye circles. It lasts just as well and matches my skin perfectly. My only irritation is that I would rather twist the pen to get more product out like the Clarins one rather than having to click it, but for the price difference I can put up with that.

This is the Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen that I used on day 2 in Fierce Purple. I totally love this eyeliner and I will be purchasing the other colours of Black and Navy Blue. These retail at £5.50 each on Eyeko's website.

What under eye concealers do you use? Are there any other Eyeko products that you recommend?

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Hi lovelies. It's a lovely, warm, sunny day which makes me feel good. Hope you are all well? I just wanted to do a little review on a product that has been a favourite of mine for a while now. This product is Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I have very dry skin, especially on my face and always used to find that many foundations would just look awful on me as they would just go flaky or leave lovely swirly marks where I had applied the foundation with a brush. So not attractive. Now I'm not saying that my skin looks flawless when I apply this product now, but there are definitely no swirly foundation marks in site. The idea of the product is that it creates a smooth film over your face which is why I think my foundation now sits much better. Also, I think it does give a nice fresh look to your skin. It currently retails on the Clarins website and at Boots for £27.50, but I bought it recently for the bargain price of £20.99 with free delivery at feelunique.com

I would say this probably lasts about two months for me which is pretty good, but I do wonder if there is a cheaper alternative out there? I wish I could say that this has made my skin look perfect all day, but I would be lying. That said I think it has definitely made an improvement. Do you recommend this product or do you know of an alternative that is just as good for dry skin? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great weekend.

Love to you all
